Over two hours later, the door to the room swung open, and Brendan stepped out looking refreshed, his bulky frame seemingly more relaxed. A strong smell of blood wafted from the room, but no one dared to look inside.
Clutching a cigarette, Brendan asked, “Is tonight’s entertainment all set?”
“All ready to go!”
Let’s head out and see it,then!”
With that, Brendan led his entourageaway, and only then did anyone dare to enter the chaotic room, bloodstains dotting various spots.
The person on the bed was covered in wounds, lying motionless. It was unclear if he was still alive.
Someone approached, checked for a pulse, and announced, “He’s still alive; let’s get him to the hospital.”

Sierra finished freshening upandstepped out of her room,only to find Dickson not bustling in the kitchen as usual but trembling on the couch.
“Dickson?” Sierra hurried over, worried his condition might be actingup.
Although he had been stable lately, mental illnesses were notoriously tricky to manage.
“Sierra, I’m fine, I’m just… happy.”
Dickson looked up at her with tears of joy glistening in his eyes.
He handed her his phone, “Sierra, that scumbag got arrested.”
Sierra quickly took the phone, and the screen showed a disheveled Brendan being led away. The news reported that Brendan’s nightclub was implicated in multiple crimes, including drug trafficking and organizing illegal gambling. Details were pending official confirmation.
Sierra was shocked by the news. Brendan had a solid foundation in Maviston. How could his empire crumblesosuddenly? Was it because an undercover operation had gathered enough evidence?
As Sierra pondered over Brendan’s downfall, Dickson said, “Sierra, there really is karma!”
Sierra glanced at him, seeingaspark of hope in his eyes, and nodded, “Yes,evenin the darkest corners, there’s always a silver lining”
She knew it wasn’t thatsimple, but she said it anyway.
Today, Jonathan still came to pick her up. As soonasshe got in the car, she asked eagerly, “Have you seen the local news updates today?”

Sierrabriefly explained Brendan’ssituationandthen added, “I wonder who he managed to offend?”
“Why doyousay that?” Jonathan glanced at her.
“It’s strange for someone whohasn’tbeen caught for so long to suddenly fall. Doesn’t it seem too coincidental?” Sierra spokecalmly.

Sierra’s lips curled into a pleased smile. “He was close to Kason. I wonder if Kason is panicking now.”

Jonathan then added, looking at Sierra, “Even though I know it’s not real, seeing you so close to him still upsets me.”
Sierra looked at Jonathan in surprise, not realizing he could be so jealous.

Watching their hands clasped together, a smile appeared in Sierra’s eyes. While they enjoyed their moment, Kason’s face was clouded with gloom.
