Over the next few days, Sierra and her team, including Autumn, focused intensely on researching the mutations in Quinn and Dora’s blood and potential methods to suppress them.
Thanks to the medication Jonathan had administered, their blood reports were significantly different now. The progression of the disease had clearly slowed, and the mutated cells seemed to be under partial control.
“What did you use?” Erwin asked in awe.
“It wasn’t me,” Sierra replied, shaking her head. Jonathan had been the one to find the drug. He hadn’t mentioned the specifics, and she hadn’t asked–but she hadn’t expected the results to be this effective.

Sierra pressed her lips together. She decided she’d ask Jonathan tonight exactly what kind of treatment he had used.
Meanwhile, Jonathan had already uncovered some troubling information. With it in hand, he knocked on Quinn’s door.
“Jonathan!” Quinn looked genuinely happy to see him. “You’re so busy with work–why did you come all the way here?”
Jonathan didn’t get to the point right away. Instead, he asked, “Where’s Dora?”
“In her room, drawing.”
Jonathan went to check. Seeing that Dora truly was sitting quietly with her sketchpad, he softly shut the door behind him.
Keeping his voice calm, mindful that a child was in the house, he asked evenly, “Even now, you still won’t say anything?”
Quinn’s expression shifted. She avoided his gaze completely. “Jonathan, what are you expecting me to say?”
Jonathan stared at her coldly, hiseyesnarrowing as she grew increasingly flustered. “I really don’t know what you’re talking
about.”
Helooked disappointed. “Tell me about Timothy.”
At the mentionofthe name,Quinn’s entire demeanor changed. She bit her lip. “I don’t want to talk about him.”
“Why not?” Jonathan’svoicedropped, cold and firm. “Because you killed him, didn’t you?”
Quinn froze.Then hereyeswidened in shock.“He’s dead? No–Jonathan, you think I did it?”
Jonathan watched herfaceclosely. The surprise in her reactionseemedgenuine. No panic. No guilt. Just confusion.
That meant she didn’t know. Or Timothy wasn’tactuallydead.
The information he’dreceivedsaid that Quinn’s ex–husband–Timothy–had disappeared completely. Vanished without a
trace.

Jonathan looked away briefly. “I didn’t want to. But your return has been strange. And then there’s the blood disorder. You avoided the topic altogether. Tests are standard before pregnancy–if you already had the condition, you wouldn’t have gone through with it. That means you got infectedaftergiving birth to Dora.”
He continued, “If it were just you,maybe it could be explained. But Dora has it too. Tell me–how does a three–year–old end up with the same condition?”
His questions came one after another, relentless, and Quinn’s face grew increasingly pained.
After a long silence, she finally said, “Jonathan, I wasn’t trying to keep anything from you. I just didn’t know how to explain it. You have no idea… after everything that happened, the one thing I regretted the most was not listening to you back then.”
She went on, “You told me Timothy wasn’t right for me. I didn’t listen. I even got angry at you, and we stopped talking for a long time. Later, I wanted to reach out, but I couldn’t. You thought Iwasstill holding a grudge–but the truth is, I had no
choice.”
Quinn took a deep breath. “Timothy was a genetic researcher. When I met him, he was obsessed with his work. I didn’t think that was a bad thing–I didn’t need constant companionship. But what I never imagined…. Jexperiment on me. And on Dora.”
