Chapter 228
228:
Brenna and Thiago exchanged scornful glances before turning away, choosing to ignore her.
Quietly, Brenna scoffed, “Ridiculous.”
Thinking she had hit a nerve, Rosie smiled wider. “So, was I right? Is he the new guy in your life? Have things gone that far between you two?”
While Thiago secretly wished he were Brenna’s new love interest, he knew the truth. To her, he was just a colleague, perhaps a close friend, nothing more. His feelings for her had grown over the years, but he never revealed them, fearing it might ruin their friendship. He wasn’t about to let anyone insult Brenna like this.
Rising angrily, he snapped, “Why should you care? What gives you the right to meddle in our affairs? This is none of your business! Leave us alone!”
A shadow darkened Rosie’s expression as irritation crossed her face. She exclaimed, “How dare you talk to me like that? Do you know who I am? I have the power to ruin you easily.”
Brenna also stood, holding her wine glass, and splashed the wine across Rosie’s face. “You’ve been stalking me for days. I’ve been ignoring you, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t noticed. Keep this up, and my response won’t be so polite,” she warned.
Rosie’s anger flared. “How dare you splash me with your drink? Why would you care about me following you unless you’ve done something to betray Ethan? Tell me, have you been sleeping with this man?” she spat.
Whispers spread throughout the restaurant as customers exchanged glances and murmured among themselves.
With a swift motion, Brenna delivered a sharp slap across Rosie’s cheek, the sound echoing through the room.

Rosie instinctively touched her cheek, stunned. “How dare you lay a hand on me?” she cried.
Just then, Ethan entered, taking in the scene that suggested Brenna and Thiago were teaming up against Rosie. He approached them, his gaze falling on the half-eaten meals and the half-full bottle of wine on the table.
A wave of discomfort washed over him as he thought about Brenna chatting and drinking with another man. It bothered him, especially since she had recently ignored his friend request on social media.
Rosie burst into tears, playing the victim. “Ethan, you saw everything, right? I was just reminding Brenna of her commitment to you, and she responded by throwing wine at me and hitting me. You have to do something!” she pleaded.
Ethan’s eyes shifted to Brenna and Thiago, noting the dark expressions on their faces.
He recalled that Thiago had planned to meet Brenna at the Imperial Bar before. Their connection seemed deep-rooted, with a clear closeness between them.
Ethan suspected that Brenna had known Thiago long before she met him.
Now, Thiago’s demeanor was protective of Brenna.
Ethan confronted Thiago sharply, his gaze burning with intensity as if he could kill him with a look alone. “What exactly is your role in my fiancée’s life? Did you even think to ask me before taking her out?” he demanded.
