Chapter 26

“Are you sure that you are okay with going to school today? You can tell Naomi about the recent developments when she comes to pick you in a few minutes’ time. You don’t need to go to school.” My mother started, as her eyes trailed from the hair of my head to the chunky boots which adorned my feet.

I had told her that Naomi would be picking me up this morning for school, and that there was no need for me joining a still furious Lilian in her car.

I knew that she was worried. She has been since she had found out that I had been bullied since I had turned sixteen.

Tucking me into bed last night, an act that I had kept muttering that I was more than old for, she, unconcerned about my mutterings, had asked me why I had kept it from her all these while.

I had told her the truth though. That I didn’t want to trouble her with my troubles. She had enough to worry about. But she had been adamant that she would have been happier knowing about this situation before it had been brought to the council.

I had asked her then what her decision would have been if she had found it out at first, probably if I had told her. She had replied that she would have actually done the same thing that the lycan king had done. She would have relocated me to the city. But the only different thing would be that they all, the family, would be coming along with us.

When she had said that, I was happy that I hadn’t told her. No way would I be okay with that movement. It was like leaving your roots to somewhere you don’t even know. They wouldn’t be happy or comfortable with that.

“Mom, I will be okay. No one would touch me, not after what the king had proposed. I will be fine. Naomi would be with me too.” I answered, putting the last note into my backpack, although there was no need for all the formalities since I will be changing all of these when I get to the city of humans.

I wouldn’t deny the fact that I wasn’t a bit curious about how it would all work out. What will happen when I get there? Who would I be staying with? Would I be alone? Would the humans be more accepting than my clan’s people?

Well, they should be. After all, I am technically human, with no wolf at all. And what’s more, the identity I will donning there would be the identity that Naomi had managed to put into my head, my real identity probably.

A stylish chick.

I mused, a short smile stretching my lips thinly when I looked at myself again in the mirror.

I pulled off the look wonderfully well. I could see the admiration in my mother’s eyes too. If this was a lighter situation, she would have praised me while dropping multiple kisses on my face. But this wasn’t, at least not for her.

She had only but a few days to spend with me before I left. The mirror had been collected from her too.

“Naomi gave you her clothes? I am not sure I have seen you in these, right?” She asked, smiling for the first time since the meeting that they had gone to yesterday.

“Yeah. According to her, I have been hiding behind tardy clothes, instead of living up to my name and beauty.” I replied, tapping my dry lip, whilst hoping that Naomi wouldn’t forget to bring the make up kit.

She had promised that she would bring hers after we both had watched makeup videos to pass time since I had refused to go downstairs yesterday, not after what had happened with Adam.

“She is a good friend. I just wish that you had met her earlier. She will miss you really.” My mother mentioned, and I nodded, agreeing with her. Updates are released by

Of course, I will miss Naomi. And there have been cases, on more than one occasion, where I had wished that she had recognized her friendship feelings for me earlier.

She was a stroke of good luck. Maybe, if she had located me then, by now, I would have been cruising somewhere else, living my life to the fullest, not wondering and worrying what Adam would do next when we find ourselves in a closed space.

Yeah, I’m still worried about that. Actually, it was one of the reasons why I was going to school today; to see Adam.

Crazy right?

But that’s true. I wanted to see if he would talk to me, perhaps say a goodbye or apologise for his cruelty all this while. I hoped so.

A horn blasted outside. It sounded like Maya’s bike horn.

“I think your friend is here. You should go now. And remember if anything out of the normal happens, just return back home, okay? You don’t have to spend the whole day there. Alright?” My mother said, and I nodded again, garnering to stroll away from the room when she spok again.

“And by the way…you look beautiful.” She said, and I smiled, retracing my steps back to her, giving her a plump kiss on her cheek.

“Thanks mom. I will see you later.” I say, before walking out of the room, the smile on my lips widening when I saw the surprised look on Lilian and Lent’s face when I stepped outside.

They both were talking with my father outside near his car.

When he saw that their attention had been divided, he turned too, and seeing me, furrowed his eyebrows, probably wondering when I started wearing chunky boots and crop tops.

In all, the looks on their faces boosted my confidence. This was a welcome change and I was really going to rock it to the fullest.
