Chapter 103
Chapter 103:
Dion didn’t look pleased with my response, but I was curious about what Zal had to explain. I motioned for Ghazi’s right-hand man to follow me into the office and waited for him to speak.
“Okay, so Ghazi might be targeted by his uncles’ men. I need to warn you,” Zal began. “It’s a long shot. He hasn’t been in touch with you for months, but I need to let you know. Ghazi doesn’t know about this, but I’ve had a couple of men keeping an eye on you. You won’t notice them. It’s just for precaution. I need to inform you so you don’t get worried if you happen to see them p>
“Look, Zal, I really don’t think this is necessary,” I replied, my chest tightening. “Ghazi and I are done. By putting your men on me, wouldn’t that defeat the purpose? I’ll be fine. I doubt anything will happen. He didn’t care about me anyway. If he did, he’d be here already p>
My chest grew heavy as Zal’s words reminded me of the only man I’d ever loved.
He shook his head, muttering something in a language I didn’t understand. We didn’t speak any longer than necessary before I finally walked him to the door.
“Should I be concerned p>
I sighed, realizing Dion had been watching us. “No, everything’s fine. But I think I’m going to take a shower. Do you want to go back or spend the day here?” I still offered, though I knew our perfect morning had already been ruined.
Dion decided to go home.
There was something in his eyes before he masked it with his usual expression. I could tell he was thinking harder than he should, probably trying to piece things together, making his own conclusions. It was the kind of drama I didn’t need for my weekend, so I decided to soak in the bath once Dion was out the door. I didn’t want to care about the trouble Ghazi was in, but it was hard not to.
The rest of the day, I tried to catch up on my reading and failed miserably.
“That’s ridiculous. Why would you do that? Wait, he had a man in his penthouse p>
Zal had just reported that he visited Oscar a couple of days ago, expressing concern that my uncles might try to get back at me through Oscar.

The idea was absurd, and I told Zal exactly that. But then my mind went blank the moment he mentioned that Oscar had a man in his place. I mean, it’s not like I don’t have a man. I have Remy now. Still, the thought of Oscar with another man…
There was a selfish part of me that hated the fact.
“Yes, a man. Why, cousin? I thought you were letting him go, letting him move on to be safe.” Zal looked at me, a hint of sarcasm in his tone. He knew I was getting serious with Remy, and he had even told me that he could protect Oscar if I wanted things to move forward with him. But then I remembered why I couldn’t. His family. Oscar was deep in the closet, just like I was. Spending time with Remy felt liberating, especially being with a man who was out.
The idea of one day being out with Remy felt more attainable than anything with Oscar.
“Nothing. Just curious. Do me a favor, and run a background check on the guy for me. Who knows, he might be a setup by my uncles.” I shrugged, giving the best excuse to dig into Oscar’s new man. Zal smirked but didn’t say anything more. He just nodded, knowing full well that I was still intrigued by the new man in Oscar’s life.
After another hour of talking business with Zal, I finally left for my office. My mind drifted back to Oscar, remembering how we used to be and how I had left him.
The hours slipped by quickly, and once my workday ended, I called Remy.
“Hey, I was thinking, how about dinner at my place?” I asked, needing to get my mind off Oscar and his new man.
