Chapter 108
Chapter 108:
I tried not to upset her by keeping quiet. “I can keep a secret or two, you know p>
“Ohhh, I know I’m going to like you. You and I are going to get along great. You have my number. Let me know if I can be of use to you.” She winked. Yeah, her number kind of slid into my contact list the day she called me to handle my passport for our last trip to the wine country. I never knew a passport could be made so quickly and easily, but when you have the resources—like Ghazi’s money—it’s obviously that simple.
“Of course.” I smiled, still trying to take in her whirlwind energy. Well, with Ghazi’s hectic schedule, it made sense that his PA would have the same level of energy day in and day out—if not more.
“I’m making you nervous, aren’t I p>
She was, but I wasn’t about to say that. Being around people with so much perkiness sometimes rubbed me the wrong way. But then again, this was my first time meeting Robyn.
“First time meeting someone from Ghazi’s office in his apartment… of course, I’m nervous.” I laughed awkwardly and busied myself by grabbing two bottles of water before offering one to Robyn.
“Nah, it’s me, Robyn. I’m barely his sidekick.
There’s nothing to be nervous about around me. Well, unless you hurt my boss.
Then, I’ll hunt you down to the corners of the Earth, search under rocks, or even blankets, until I find you. Because… you know, he’s my boss, and his signature pays for my bills and groceries.” She chuckled, uncapped the bottle, and took a big gulp.
“I think I like you too, Robyn,” I laughed after drinking my water. We talked for another half hour before she let me go, telling me she had more boring tasks to do in the office.
Meeting Robyn had sparked a bit of excitement inside me. She had mentioned that Ghazi was taking me to Capri, which was new information. A really good surprise, in fact. I started Googling Capri until I decided I needed to get back to my sketchbook and focus on my designs.
When dinner time arrived and Ghazi came home, he looked at the bags of clothes still sitting on the living room floor before raising an eyebrow at me. “You haven’t opened them p>
“Robyn said they’re gifts from you, but you haven’t texted me or mentioned them,” I shrugged, though I was actually a bit annoyed that he hadn’t checked if I liked the gifts. I knew he was busy, but I wasn’t just a secret he could buy with presents because I moved in with him.

This was supposed to be something deeper with Ghazi. I didn’t want to fall back into old habits. Okay, maybe I spent too many hours thinking about how busy he had been lately.
“Look, Remy, I know I’ve been occupied with work. I thought a little getaway might make you happy. I thought you’d be excited, open the bags, and guess where we’re going. Or did Robyn spoil it like I knew she would?” I grinned at the mention of her name, and he groaned, but only for a second, before I told him not to blame her. “I like her, don’t cut her pay or anything p>
“Huh, that never crossed my mind. Good thinking, Remy. Updates are released by
This is exactly the kind of thing that might get her to behave,” he joked.
I shook my head; I wasn’t going to take part in that kind of talk. Instead, I decided to unpack the takeaway Ghazi had brought with him. I plated our dinner while he kept talking about our plans for Capri.
“I’m inviting Jacqueline to come with us. Just in case. I know she’ll love it there p>
“Oh… okay,” I replied. Another part of being Ghazi’s boyfriend was dealing with his closeted life, and like many men in our situation, vacationing together would lead to complications. “I thought we did fine with our last trip, just the two of us p>
