After getting into the car, Cole fell asleep in the backseat within two minutes.
Lila glanced at the passenger seat, where Kieran was still replying to messages on his phone. Her heart ached for him.
She called out gently, “Kieran, take a break for a bit.”
He lifted his gaze and paused before turning off his phone and closing his eyes.
As dusk fell, Lila first dropped Cole off at his place before heading toward Vermilion Estate.
Once they arrived, she urged Kieran to take a shower first. When he came out, she immediately pushed him onto the bed.
“Just get a good night’s sleep tonight. Leave the rest for tomorrow, okay?” She looked at him seriously. “It’s fine if you wake up early to deal with it, okay?”
Kieran sat on the edge of the bed and pulled her onto his lap, wrapping his arms around her without saying a word.
After a while, he finally let go. “Alright, I’ll rest tonight.”
Lila watched him lie down before heading to freshen up.
When she returned, she saw that Kieran was already asleep. For the first time, he had fallen asleep before she did.
Her heart ached for him. She turned off the lights and lay beside him before wrapping her arms around his waist.
He stirred and instinctively held her close. The scent of jasmine filled the air, lulling them both into a peaceful sleep.
The next morning, just as Lila was waking up, she felt someone pinching her cheek. She rubbed her eyes groggily.
“Stop messing around,” she mumbled, still half-asleep.
Kieran pulled her closer. He had been too exhausted to hold her properly last night.
Lila snuggled up. “How’s everything going with work?”
His fingers played with a strand of her hair. “It’s almost done.”
Lila nodded, not pressing for more details.
After breakfast, they each headed to their respective offices.
But first, Lila made a stop at Joyce Group. An employee led her upstairs.
She opened the office door and saw Amelia gripping her hair, biting her pen, and looking frustrated. “Vince, how much is my dad paying you? double it if you stop forcing me to learn the company’s operations.
“If I have to learn, can you at least not hover over me so closely?”
Seriously, she needed to use her brain! It wasn’t that she couldn’t understand. It was just that the more she learned, the more complicated everything became.
She wasn’t young anymore. This was exhausting!
Hearing the door open, she thought it was her secretary bringing in more documents and was about to complain again.
But her eyes lit up when she saw Lila. But she suddenly paused.
Why was Lila here? Did something happen again?
Vince stood and greeted her, looking as polished and elegant as ever in his suit.
Amelia looked nervous. “Did something happen?”
“No, I just came to ask something.” Lila shook her head and glanced at Vince. “It’s perfect that you’re here. What exactly is Morgan Group’s situation right now?”
The question made both of them fall silent.
Lila lowered her gaze. “I see.”
As she turned to leave, Vince finally spoke. “Lila, Morgan Group’s issues involve foreign interests. This isn’t something that can be resolved in a few days.

Amelia shot Vince a look, signaling him to think of a solution.
He hesitated before answering truthfully. “There’s not much we can do about the situation in Falkoria. But what about Jasmine? Hasn’t she been living abroad for years?”
