Steven felt a sharp pang in his chest. Then, he said honestly, “Jessica lied. I never increased Annalise’s allowance.”
Upon hearing that, Chloe was stunned. She hurriedly asked, “You must’ve given her mother money, right?”
“I did not,” Steven said, feeling his heart ache even more. “When we first got married, you told me numerous times not to pamper them. I never forgot about that.”
Chloe was at a loss for words. She always called Annalise a gold digger, yet Steven only gave her so little every month. Suddenly, she felt extremely embarrassed.

Chloe glanced at me and said, “It was with the money that Steven gave you!”

poultry or red meat?” I asked bluntly.
I continued, “But since you’re putting so much importance on the money he gave me, I don’t want to explain so much. Let’s compare our transaction histories.”
I pulled up my transaction history that detailed every single expense that I ever made for Steven over the years.
“Here: these are the things that Steven spent his money on. You should tally the amount and have him pay me back,” I said as I handed Chloe my phone.
