I chuckled at Zane’s words and said, “I love you, too. But your friend must be
waiting-you should go meet her.”
“Okay. I’ll be going, then,” Zane said reluctantly.
I waved as Zane left.
“Here are the results of your DNA test.”
The employee at the Forensic Identification Center handed Gary the report. One look at the report seemingly shattered Gary’s world. He stumbled backward, barely stabilizing himself in his seat.
After Julia saw the report, all energy was sucked out of her. She gripped the table for support.
She helplessly asked, “What do we do? Lucas is not related to us!”
As Julia spoke, she couldn’t help but shed tears. She exclaimed, “Ruby had been lying! She never dated Casper, and her son is not Casper’s either! Yet, we chased our daughter-in-law away because of her.”
Overwhelmed, Julia yelled, “Come on, think of something!”
With his hands trembling, Gary took out his phone and called his employees. He told them to announce that the company was doing well and that it was not on the brink of bankruptcy. The employees complied.
Then, Gary called Jessica.
“Hello?”
Jessica never expected Gary to contact her again. Uninterested in speaking with them, Jessica asked flatly, “What do you want?”
As he feared that Jessica would hang up, Gary hurriedly said, “Oh, it’s nothing. We just thought we used to be so stingy with you, and we want to know if you need more money now. We can send you some money.” sŵnovel
Jessica frowned after she heard that. She wasn’t sure what was going on-in the past, Gary hated her. Every time she had spent money, he’d criticize her for spending too much.

Jessica felt even more confused at that. She asked, “What’s different about it? It’s all money, and I can spend it all the same.”
Gary retorted, “But our money is for our biological grandson…”
As the conversation continued, Jessica’s confusion only increased.
“But didn’t you say that Cody is unrelated to you? And that you will never acknowledge him as your grandson?” Jessica asked.
Gary replied, “Well, Julia and I thought about it lately. We both agree that we made a mistake; as his biological grandparents, we should’ve treated Cody better.”
Jessica found Gary’s answer funny. Not too long ago, they told her they refused Cody. But today, they е
suddenly changed their minds. She thought of how Gary referred to himself as Lucas’ biological
grandfather.
Jessica began to suspect if Ruby’s son was Casper’s after all.
With that in mind, Jessica chuckled and said, “It’s fine. Other people are willing to
treat Cody well. Since you never treated him well, you don’t have to anymore.”
