So she didn’t think much of it.
Before long, a waiter arrived with a steaming hot meal and dessert.
Jessica hadn’t eaten in a long time and was so famished she could have eaten a horse. She devoured the food.
Lindsay handed her a glass of water. “Slow down.”
With her mouth full, Jessica just nodded.
Soon, Jessica had polished off everything on her plate and let out a satisfied burp.
“Thank you for being as kind to me as my own parents.”
Lindsay didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. She was suddenly beginning to
understand how Jessica could have been abducted—she was just so easy to fool.
Just one meal, and Jessica already thought she was a good person.
Youthful naivete, she supposed.
“I’ll get a room arranged for you. I’ll call you in the morning.”
“Okay, thank you.”
Lindsay pressed the intercom and asked the staff to prepare a room for Jessica, preferably the one next door.
A room was quickly arranged right next door.
After seeing Jessica to her room, Lindsay returned to her own. Exhausted from the long night, she collapsed into bed and fell asleep almost instantly.
She didn’t even know when Yves had returned.
She slept soundly until noon the next day. Lindsay stretched comfortably and looked down at Yves, who was still fast asleep.
She frowned, finding it a little strange.
Yves wasn’t awake yet? Did he only get to bed this morning? Usually by this time, his keyboard would be practically smoking from overuse.
Lindsay didn’t dwell on it and got up to wash.
She was planning to find Cheryl for breakfast, but when she opened the door, the scene in the hallway stunned her.
Four crew members were lying on

injuries but the lividity on exposed they bad skin been dead for several hours.
Lindsay quickly shut the door and rushed to t the bedside to wake Yves. But no matter how many times she called his name, he remained unresponsive, as if in a coma.
Lindsay’s heart pounded. With a trembling hand, she checked for his breath. He was breathing, but it was faint.
Her face paled. Considering the bodies in the hallway, it was clear something terrible had happened on the cruise ship.
But why was she completely fine?
What about Cheryl? And Jessica, the girl she’d met last night?
Lindsay immediately went out and pounded on Cheryl’s door. No matter how loudly she called her name, no one answered, and a sense of dread washed over her.
Lindsay took a few steps back and kicked the door. After several hard kicks, it flew open. Inside, she saw Cheryl lying on the floor, her condition unknown.
Lindsay rushed in and checked her breathing. Thankfully, she was still breathing, but like Yves, it was incredibly weak.
Without a second thought, she picked Cheryl up, carried her back to her room, and laid her on the sofa. Then she pressed the intercom to call for help.
But no one answered. It was deeply unsettling. How could there be no crew available on a cruise ship this large? Had something happened to all of them?
After a moment’s thought, Lindsay decided to risk going out to investigate.
But she couldn’t stop worrying about Jessica, so she went to her room first. Jessica wasn’t there. Lindsay wasn’t sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing.
Lindsay took the elevator to the fifth floor, and what she saw there made her want to scream. Bodies were everywhere, their faces already showing signs of dividity
Something catastrophic must have happened on the ship last night while she was
asleep. There was no other explanation for such a disaster overnight.
