My smirk widened as I casually linked my arm with Grayson’s, our paws brushing lightly as we moved deeper into the Moonstone Grotto, the air thick with the scent of anticipation and other wolves‘ musk. My wolf purred, content in Grayson’s presence.
His scent, a heady mix of pine and warm earth, felt comforting, grounding me after the events of the previous full
moon.
Emily’s lip trembled, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.
Her voice, laced with a hint of suppressed pain, carried on the slight breeze.
“Caleb, Jared, Isabella came here for the Heart of the Moon as well. Let’s not compete; let’s just return to the Silvermoon Pack tonight.

Caleb, ever the peacemaker, nodded, accepting her suggestion.
Emily was ever the epitome of gentle obedience. My wolf felt a pang of something akin to pity.

His muscles tensed, a low growl rumbling in his chest.
His wolf was bristling.
Caleb paused, then slowly replied, “Three years ago, Isabella saw the Heart of the Moon in an ancient scroll, and we promised to secure one for her.” A hint of guilt clouded his voice, a familiar scent.
Jared’s anger lessened slightly, the memory of that ancient promise stirring within him.
His wolf, however, remained restless.
He mumbled, “Even if we promised, Emily’s brother saved her life; shouldn’t she yield? She knew we were getting it for Emily and still tried to claim it p>
“ Jared, Isabella didn’t take it from Emily. The Heart of the Moon holds a different significance for Isabella. Besides, Emily prefers the Crimson Moonstone; not the blue. There’s a magnificent Crimson Moonstone
necklace at this auction–more valuable than the Heart of the Moon bracelet p>
Caleb looked at Emily with guilt and affection.

His wolf snarled, a clear warning.
He grabbed her wrist, pulling her towards the auction hall. His wolf was possessive, almost violent.
“Emily, you don’t have to compromise! Come with me! I’ll secure the Heart of the Moon bracelet for you p>
Emily stumbled a few steps before regaining her balance, her head bowed, her hair hiding her face, but a sly smile touched her lips.
It didn’t matter what she actually liked; she just wanted what belonged to me. My wolf bristled at her thought.
The auction hall was dazzling and chaotic.
Grayson and I sat far from the Miller brothers; we whispered to each other, our conversations silent to all but us. Whatever Grayson said sent a warmth through me.
My wolf felt safe and cherished. The intensity of his scent filled my senses, making me happy.

drifted towards us; his heart–or rather, his wolf’s–clenched; he hadn’t seen me smile like that in a long time. The joy in his eyes was noticeable, despite his wolf’s anger towards the whole situation.
Jared noticed Caleb’s gaze. He scoffed disdainfully.
“Look at her; she’s clearly provoking us; she’s still playing games!” His wolf’s jealousy was palpable.
