Emily, her she–wolf’s amber eyes shimmering with a practiced compassion – a deceptive sheen she’d perfected over countless moon cycles- approached.

I can save him.” Each movement was precise, practiced to the point of unnatural smoothness; a practiced performance honed over years, if not lifetimes. “He is choking; the Heimlich maneuver is needed at once,” she declared, her voice ringing with authority.
The mother, her face etched with terror as she gazed at her pup’s fading life, offered the pup without question.
Emily was her only hope. The crowd’s howls of concern quieted, their gazes a mixture of hope and suspicion.
Emily’s reputation was….tarnished, to say the least. Many in the pack questioned her true nature. Yet, the practiced efficiency of her movements, the unwavering calm in her eyes, suggested a level of skill that superseded the rumors.
