Chapter 883

Scarlet spoke with a hint of innocence and disbelief: “Uncle Mason, where are you taking my dad?”

Though she still didn’t understand what was happening, Scarlet felt a vague panic in her heart and clung tightly to Thomas’s hand.

Mason said nothing.

Thomas gently patted Scarlet’s head, forcing a smile: “Scarlet, go home first.”

“No, I’m not going back. Dad, what’s going on?”

Thomas slowly pried Scarlet’s fingers away and then forcefully pushed her towards Keira, directing his gaze to Keira: “Take her back.”

Keira grabbed Scarlet’s arm.

Thomas looked at Mason: “It’s the Family Head who sent you, right?”

Mason nodded: “Jodie won’t cooperate with the Family Head, and we have no other choice.”

Thomas chuckled softly: “I understand.”

The two had spent a lifetime battling, with Thomas moving from direct lineage to a branch, while Mason rose from a branch to become the direct brother to the Family Head, with grudges along the way.

Yet there was some mutual respect, for after all, they were both men.

The South Family was a matriarchal clan, and these men were born looked down upon, abandoned, meant to serve the women of the family. They were neglected together as children, trained together, and succeeded together…

Thomas turned to walk away, bodyguards following him.

Mason didn’t have anyone bind Thomas, granting him a final measure of dignity.

Keira watched Thomas, inexplicably sensing a heroic sadness, and overheard their conversation:

“Mason, will my daughter be okay?”

“In the South Family, daughters are precious. As long as she’s obedient, the Family Head won’t harm her.”

Their conversation was scattered by the wind, and they spoke no more.

Keira tightened her jaw, watching their backs.

She understood this was Thomas sending her a message.

As long as Scarlet didn’t go to rescue them, nothing would happen; the women of the family would be safe. It also conveyed that her mother Jodie wouldn’t die!

Keira clenched her fists tightly.

“Dad! Let me go, I want to go over there!”

Scarlet roared in anger, attempting to rush over, but was firmly held by Keira. They watched helplessly as Thomas got into Mason’s car and left.

“Now you don’t even have a dad anymore, Scarlet. You’ll only ever be beneath my feet in this lifetime!”

Scarlet South said, leaving triumphantly.

“Let me go, let me go! Why are you stopping me? Norma, I’ve been so good to you, why are you stopping me from saving my dad!” Scarlet’s face was tear-streaked as she hit and cursed at Keira.

Keira said nothing.

Thomas was taken away because of being implicated by his mother.

Keira looked at Scarlet, who had lost her father in front of her, unable to speak.

Lewis stepped forward, pressing Scarlet’s shoulders and holding her still, then spoke solemnly: “If she lets go of you, then it’s you and your father who will be taken away! Who then could rescue your father?”

Scarlet was stunned, then collapsed onto the ground.

Tears dripped onto the floor.

Scarlet clenched her fists: “Ever since my aunt escaped, our family’s position here has been awkward. When I was very young, Dad said I shouldn’t hate my aunt, that she was innocent too, and he worked hard in these circumstances to provide for us… But now Dad’s been taken away too, what am I supposed to do? What should I do!”

Keira looked at her, took a deep breath, and squatted down to embrace her: “Don’t cry, I’m here, I’ll definitely find a way to rescue your dad.”

Scarlet forced a bitter smile: “You? What ability do you have to rescue my dad?”

Scarlet, saying this, suddenly pointed to the prepared yacht nearby: “You should go! Now I’m barely able to protect myself, much less you all. If you leave, you won’t be implicated by me!”

Keira’s eyes reddened as she looked at her.

Thomas’s first reaction after knowing she was Keira was to send her away.

Scarlet’s character was timid, yet her first choice was also this.

These were her uncle and cousin, her family.
