Chapter 3

3 I will never love you April ended up falling asleep since the maid never came back, apparently she wasn’t going to have her three meals in that place either, she sighed with great regret and said.
_ When will the time come when I can eat whatever I want? April touched her stomach and started talking to him.
_Stomach, why do they always have to punish you like this? I’d rather get a beating if that’s how I get my three meals.
Knock knock.
The sound of the door being knocked on made April happy, perhaps it was time for her first meal.
_I hope they brought the basket of fruit I ordered.
April spoke to her stomach again, which was growling with hunger.
_Calm stomach, it’s finally time to eat.
April got out of bed and opened the door.
The maid who had not brought her food was standing in front of the door, her hands empty.
I don’t even have the right to eat a single meal in this place, they’re not thinking of starving me, are they? April thought as she frowned.
_ Where’s my food? Why haven’t you brought it yet? _Sorry, I forgot.
The maid lied shamelessly.
_Well, go and bring her immediately.
_It won’t be necessary, his majesty is waiting for you for dinner.
April’s eyes lit up, the servant thought it was because she was going to have dinner with the king, but in reality that was the least of April’s concerns, all she wanted was to have a good meal, she didn’t care if it was in the stables or if she met a man who said he would kill her with his gaze every time he saw her, all she cared about was filling her stomach with a good meal.
The maid took April to the royal dining room where his majesty, the king, was waiting for her.
When Alessandro saw her arrive, it seemed like he wanted to throw the knife he was holding in his hand at her and stab her head through her head.
Anyone would have trembled in fear at that look.
However, Abril didn’t even pay attention to his gaze.
The food had completely captured her attention.
She took her place at the table next to the king, immediately took a spoonful of the soup in front of her and put it in her mouth.
The king looked at her with contempt and said.
_Apparently King Venobich did not educate the princess properly, her manners are horrible.
The king was right about April’s manners so she didn’t feel offended at all and continued eating her soup.
She finished it all and then moved on to the meat, then the fish, she left the plates completely clean; Alessandro had the impression that she had not been fed in years, she ate as if it were her last meal.
April tried everything on the table, there were things she had never tried before, like lamb meat.
She was so happy with the food that she almost cried with happiness.
Alessandro reached out his hand to touch Abril’s curly hair, it was all messed up since she had been sleeping, when she felt his hand touching her hair she remained completely still, she wondered if the king would kill her at that moment, she closed her eyes and thought.
At least he let me have a nice dinner before he died.
_If it weren’t for the color of your hair I would think you were a street beggar.
The king spoke with a voice full of contempt, April opened her eyes when she felt him remove his hand and thought.
Apparently he didn’t want to kill me, he just wanted to check that my hair was real and not dyed.
April didn’t say anything, she knew from experience that when a man was angry the best thing to do was to remain silent, not saying anything to harden him even more since that would only get her punished.
When she lived in the palace and the butler who came to visit her from time to time to make sure she hadn’t died yet, would talk something up, he would punish her by not eating for two whole days, sometimes it was up to three days of fasting in a row, from then on April had decided that the best thing was to stay silent and listen to the scolding without talking back.
The king stood up annoyed and said to him.
_Go back to your room, seeing you makes my stomach turn.
April had already eaten her fill, although she had not had the chance to try the dessert, she nodded and got up from the table.
When she returned to her room, April asked the maid to help her take off her dress, but she claimed she was busy and quickly left.
April sighed deeply wondering how she was going to take off her dress, when suddenly the king entered her room, she looked at him in bewilderment wondering what he was doing there if just a few minutes ago she had told him to come out because he didn’t want to see her face.
It’s true, this is our first night as a married couple, April thought.
That explained what the king was doing there.
_You’re still wearing that stupid dress, it’s ridiculous that you pretend to be a bride since this whole wedding is nothing but a farce.
The king laughed bitterly and said to him.
_I will never treat you like my wife, I will never touch your disgusting body, who knows how many men you have been with before me, listen to me carefully Princess April, you will never have my heart, not even a place in my bed and from this day on try not to cross my path, because if you do I might lose my temper and end up killing you.
After saying everything he wanted without giving Alessandro a chance to speak, he left the room, slamming the door hard.
April knew that the king hated her, although she never imagined how much.
_Apparently I’m not welcome here either, I just hope they don’t make me starve, I can handle anything except that.
