Before he could finish, Johnathan slammed his fist into the wall.
“I said bring them in!” he growled, every word ice–cold.

Quinn let out a small, startled gasp. She looked like she wanted to say something, but Johnathan shot her a cold glare, and she. didn’t dare utter a word.

Stone and Draven watched him nervously, afraid he might suddenly lash out at Maddox..
Johnathan didn’t say a word. He turned and pushed the door open, walking backinside.
Draven sighed and turned to Maddox. “You know how he is. Don’t let it get to you.”

Maddox shook his head. “This really was mymistake.”

Stone pressed his lips together.“What I want to know is–whowasit?”

Especially not Jose or Chase. If it did.. this could blow up beyond control.
Stone’s face was serious. He hadn’t told Draven, but he had another fear weighing on him.
Maddox had investigated alltheguests–but he hadn’t looked into the Treno family.

By then. Johnathan had already come face to face with the three suspects. Maddox had arrangedfora large, soundproof vehicle, making sure no one outside could hear a thing.

Once he spoke, the other two couldn’t hold it in either–they all started talking.
Maddox, listening from the side, felt a chill run down his spine. This wasn’t the work of just one person. All three had been involved–each step feeding into the next.
It started with the procurement guy. He’d taken money to swap out the usual suppliers–not knowing that the new batch ofcakeand fruitwaslaced with drugs. The payment had seemed like a harmless bribe. The quality looked decent, so he agreed.
The second server–just like the one who tossed the glass–had also been paid. His job was to swap the drugged items back out afterward, then dispose of the evidence.
