Lycan King’s Regret Punished The Wrong Daughter Chapter 190

Chapter 190

[ 1,200 words ]

Third-Person POV:

“Angela, enough!” Chris caught her arm before she could get any closer. Then, noticing the servants watching them, he lowered his voice. “Please, sweetheart. You’ve been under so much stress since your father passed away. Let’s go upstairs and talk.”

He looked helplessly toward the Omegas. “I’m sorry about this,” he told them. “The Luna hasn’t been sleeping well lately. She’s still struggling with her father’s death.”

Angela stared at him in shock. Chris turned back to her. “You’re exhausted, Angela. You haven’t eaten since yesterday. Come on, let me get you something.”

“I don’t want anything from you!” Angela yelled at him.

The Omegas were watching her with expressions she had never seen on their faces before. Some looked frightened, while others seemed genuinely worried.

Ava had moved behind Chris, wiping her eyes as though Angela had frightened her. Angela wanted to scream. She wanted to tell everyone exactly what she’d witnessed last night, but Chris was behaving as though none of it had happened.

“Someone please bring the Luna a glass of water,” Chris instructed. “And prepare something light for her to eat. She hasn’t been herself these past few days.”

One of the Omegas immediately hurried to obey, and Angela looked at her husband in disbelief.

Over the next few days, things only got worse for Angela.

Chris had started treating her differently, especially when the servants were around. He would ask whether she’d taken enough rest, remind her to eat, and sometimes stop her from attending meetings because he thought she wasn’t feeling well.

At first, Angela argued with him. She told him repeatedly that there was nothing wrong with her and that she was perfectly capable of handling her responsibilities.

But Chris always had the same answer. “Sweetheart, I’m only worried about you. You haven’t been yourself since your father passed away.”

One afternoon, Angela was passing through the hallway when she heard Ava speaking to Chris near the entrance.

“I think I should leave, Chris. I’ve already stayed longer than I promised, and I don’t want to cause any more trouble.”

Two Omegas were standing nearby, sorting through some household supplies. Chris immediately shook his head. “Don’t be ridiculous, Ava. I need you here.”

“But Angela—”

“Angela isn’t well enough to handle everything right now. She’s been forgetting things… and seeing things that are only in her head. I don’t want her exhausting herself trying to manage the household and pack matters. You’ve been helping us so much lately. At least stay until she’s feeling better.”

Angela stopped walking. One of the Omegas looked toward the other, while Ava lowered her head.

“If you really need me, Chris, I’ll stay. But I hope Luna Angela doesn’t misunderstand. You’ve been like a brother to me.”

“I know. And don’t worry about Angela. I’ll speak to her.”

Angela wanted to march over and give them a piece of her mind, but she stopped herself and returned to her room without saying anything. And somehow, that made her feel even worse.

Chris continued being affectionate whether they were alone or had an audience. He even slept beside her on some nights.

There were moments when Angela began questioning herself. What if she’d misunderstood what she saw?

Chris behaved so normally afterward that she sometimes wondered whether she’d imagined the whole thing. She hated herself for even considering it.

But lately, even thinking had become difficult. She was sleeping far more than usual. Some mornings, she struggled to get out of bed, and by afternoon, she was already tired again.

She would sit down to read a document and realize she’d gone through the same paragraph several times without understanding it.

One morning, Chris entered her room carrying several files she’d reviewed the previous day. “Angela, sweetheart, can we talk for a minute?”

She put aside her book. “What is it?”

Chris sat beside her and opened one of the files. “There were a few errors in the documents you approved yesterday. Nothing serious, so don’t worry.”

Angela frowned and took the file from him. “You approved the wrong amount for the southern border supplies. And here, you’ve signed off on the same payment twice.”

She examined the figures carefully. She had checked the amounts before signing them, just as her father had taught her.

“It’s alright, sweetheart. Everyone makes mistakes.” Chris gently took the file back. “Luckily, Ava noticed them before the documents were sent to the council. She’s already corrected everything.”

At that, Angela did look up. ” Ava corrected them?”

“Yes. She’s been helping me with some of the paperwork. She’s actually quite good at it.” Angela said nothing.

She had been trained to manage pack affairs since childhood. How had Ava, who had spent her entire life as an Omega, found errors Angela herself hadn’t noticed?

Chris closed the folder and placed it on the bedside table.

“Don’t worry about the paperwork for now. You need to rest. Ava and I can handle things until you’re feeling better.” He kissed her forehead before getting up to leave.

Angela remained seated, looking at the files. And for the first time, she began to wonder whether something really was wrong with her.

But one night, Angela woke up in pain, only to find Chris missing from their bed once again.

She lay there for a while, listening to the quiet house. She didn’t want to go looking for him. She was tired of worrying about Ava and tired of wondering whether her husband was lying to her.

But then she eventually got up and found that the light beneath Ava’s bedroom door was on. Angela approached quietly and opened the door.

Chris was on top of Ava, thrusting into her as she held him close. Neither of them noticed Angela standing outside. For a few seconds, Angela couldn’t move.

She could feel the same terrible pain in her chest. She pressed a hand against it, struggling to breathe normally.

There was no misunderstanding this time. No bad dream, no confusion. Her husband was sleeping with Ava.

Angela simply stepped away before either of them could notice her. She made it back to her bedroom and locked herself inside.

That night, she didn’t cry. She sat on the bed for a long while, trying to decide what to do. She couldn’t continue living like this.

Either Chris and Ava had to leave the house, or Angela needed to find a way out of the situation herself. She had spent her entire life in Blackthorn, and leaving the home where she’d grown up wasn’t something she could decide overnight.

Besides, Chris was the Alpha now. If she wanted him gone, she would have to think carefully about how to handle the council.

Angela knew she had to act quickly. Chris was already making the servants believe something was wrong with her, and she was afraid that soon no one would believe a word she said. She needed someone who knew her well enough to trust her, someone Chris couldn’t easily turn against her. As she desperately tried to think of whom she could approach, only one name came to mind.

Rick Toussaint.
