Dr Poster snapped his phone shut, pinning Alex with a look that could peel paint off the walls.
“Well, would you look at that? Dr. Owens just landed in Vancouver, and he’s hunting down this so called miracle pill for his research,” he sneered.
“Funny enough, he’s actually waltzing through the halls of this very hospital as we speak. After that cheap shot you took at me, let’s see how you plan on dodging him. You disrespected me-which means you spat on my master’s name, too p>
Charles stepped up, lips curling into a contemptuous smirk
“Alex, maybe you should just get on your knees and beg Dr. Foster to spare you. Because when his almighty master shows up, you’re done p>
“Dr. Owens is a living legend, and you’re a speck of roach crap by comparison.” Vincent unleashed a harsh cackle, pointing at Alex like he was scolding a dog.
“Too late now, you worthless clown. Even if you crawled on your belly and kissed my shoes, I wouldn’t give you the time of day. I’d rather watch you go down in flames p>
Suddenly, a thunderous voice rolled in from the doorway: “Which one of you spineless degenerates decided to smear my name p>
A tall, older man stalked into the room, his white coat giving him an even more menacing air.
If looks could explode heads, the entire room would be in trouble. This was Dr. Jonathan Owens, the legend people wrote articles about when they ran out of lesser heroes.
In a heartbeat, Vincent’s bravado vanished. He practically rolled over and wagged his tail, scrambling to grovel at the great doctor’s feet.
“M-master! You’re here! That worthless scum over there disrespected you-he insulted your name! And me, your rightful apprentice! He hit me, humiliated me, gave you zero respect p>
Florence gawked at the man in the coat, hissing to Jack, “Is that… him? The Dr. Owens everyone can’t shut up about p>

The simpering was thick enough to suffocate on. Dr. Owens didn’t even dignify them with a glance; his steely gaze swept the room like a searchlight about to turn someone into ash.

“It was Charles Kingston’s invitation that brought me here to save some hotshot patient. But outta nowhere, there is an idiot, barged in, stole the credit, and then treated your name like it was dirt under his shoe p>
Charles puffed up his chest, stepped forward, and introduced himself. “Dr. Owens, sir! I’m Charles Kingston, from Vancouver. You might remember meeting my father once-

“Oh,” Jonathan said, barely sparing him a glance. Then nothing. The sound of Charles’s pride shattering was nearly audible.
“So,” Dr. Owens demanded, “which loser decided to disrespect me p>
“That scumbag!” Florance barked, pointing at Alex in a hot second, as though throwing someone under the bus was a favorite pastime.
“Don’t lump us in with him, Dr. Owens. He’s the one who insulted you! He’s fair game. We’re on your side p>
“Yeah, get rid of him!” the Lancasters all shrieked, jumping to paint Alex as the devil incarnate.
But then, Dr. Owens went rigid, his eyes locking onto Alex.
His face warped in recognition, or maybe shock, something primal that tremored behind those pupils.
Alex shrugged nonchalantly.

He continued, “I’ve never met you, and you don’t know me either. Yet your so- called ‘star student’ thinks I owe you respect for his shady behavior. Since when does the greatest doctor around train a fraud? Are you even doing your job correctly p>
Everyone froze, especially the Lancasters. A knife of dread slid through the air at Alex’s absolute disregard for Dr. Owens’s towering reputation.
Sophia elbowed Alex, trying to get him to back down.
“Hurry up and apologize! Maybe Dr. Owens will let this slide if you grovel a little. Don’t be stupid. This is a man who can ruin you with a snap of his fingers p>
Vincent, sporting a sadistic smirk, sneered, “You’ve sealed your fate. Mocking my mentor is a suicide mission. Not a single soul on this planet can save you. But, hey, you can still squeak out a pathetic apology and maybe salvage your worthless life p>
Alex rolled his eyes. “Right… because Dr. Owens is basically a god who can’t tolerate a little criticism. Fine, if he’s so obsessed with his precious ego, I’ll bow and grovel-since he’s the big, almighty doc. Sounds fair, right p>
Jonathan Owens stumbled, like his knees threatened to buckle.
For a split second, he seemed… rattled. Almost faint. Inside, he was screaming a whole different story:
Oh my God- isn’t he the legendary doctor known as “God’s Hand”?! No wonder the miracle pill appeared now that he’s here.
Completely unaware of the sudden shift, Vincent kept crowing.

Then, without a single word of warning, Dr. Owens drew back and slapped
Vincent so hard the crack echoed off every wall in the room.
“Vincent hit the floor like a bag of bricks, blood trickling from his nose.
“S-sir,” Vincent stammered through the pain, dazed, “why’d you hit me? He’s the one you’re supposed to punish
The thunderous rage radiating from Dr. Owens’s eyes could have ignited the air.
“You lying piece of trash! My apprentice? I don’t even know who the hell you are! What gives you the right to spread garbage in my name p>
He hauled Vincent to his feet by his collar, only to smash another slap across his face.
Then another. And another.
It was a savage, unstoppable storm of hits, each blow leaving Vincent more
battered, more broken, until teeth literally went flying.
By the time Charles managed to wrestle Dr. Owens’s arm back, Vincent looked
like a mangled punching bag.
