Chapter 487
“I can move this dirt, but it takes some energy. Earth magic is my least developed, although I am seeing that as a major hindrance now. She had me focus on casting into objects.” She rolls her eyes and I have to smile.
“Can you contain her wrists and hands?” He asks, looking at her earnestly. “I’d like to keep her from throwing sh*t.”
She moves to a crouching position, taking deep slow breaths. “What do you want me to do?” I ask. He’s not keeping me out of this.
“You and the Rift have to stop her, that’s what you are going to do.” He kisses the side of my head before he matches Juliette’s position. What the f*ck did he just say?
“Stop her?! How in the hell am I supposed to do that?” I ask the part of my mind where my wolf should be. I look at my mate’s serious face, he is planning something and a hint of mischievousness sparkles in his eyes. “What are you going to do?” “Test a theory. Ready? GO!” He shouts before I can ask what that even means.
Juliette pushes the dirt mound we have been using as a shield. It disintegrates before us. She isn’t questioning his judgement, but I have tons as my slow brain catches on to the fact that we are full on running towards the crazy b*tch flinging death magic at us.
We are dodging and weaving. She’s further away than I thought and she looks – tired, worn out maybe – My right thigh heats up and I come to a halt as I look down and see steam coming through my pants.
“What the f*ck?!”
Ben skitters to a stop and turns to look at me. His eyes flare as he bounds over helping me pat my leg. That’s when I feel it, the copper
medallion thing from my dadine
office. I have no idea how it is
here with all of the fighting, but I dig to grab it. The glow as I pull it out of my pocket is blinding.
“THE KEY!!” Eliza shouts. “Hand it over and I will spare your life.” She calls, while still flinging magic and debris at us. She has one arm raised, lightning sparking in her fingers, while the other reaches towards me, like she expects me to follow orders.
“She’s been around lower wolves for too long.” I scoff, but keep my face neutral. Juliette looks at me worried. “She can’t command me. No matter what kind of magic tantrum she throws, she has no control over me That’s been her problem this whole time.” I look at Ben, realization hitting me square in the face.
I squeeze the medallion, the copper heating my palm and sending a shock of energy through my whole body, down to my feet and into the earth The crysta in the ravine all flash brilliantly as my body absorbs the energy. “No blood spilled, right?” I ask Ben in a low voice. “We’re going to go with it. Protect Juliette while she talks me through casting. We
have to trap Eliza without killing her or getting hurt.”
“Okay, Alpha.” He squeezes my hand and moves closer to Juliette.
“Juliette, I trust you. Don’t question or second guess. Tell me how to move and what to say. We end this now.
