“What?!”

The classmates were completely stunned as Halsey described that night in such detail.

She continued, “At the time, my fiancé was in the shower. You suddenly barged in, wearing a very revealing and sexy camisole nightgown. He grabbed a bottle and threw it at you, thinking you were an intruder peeping on him. That’s just self–defense, right?”

Sierra was speechless.

The classmates murmured, pointing at her.

“You actually went into Mr. Lane’s bathroom?”

“That’s way out of line.”

“Put yourself in Halsey’s shoes–if I took in a friend who wasn’t well off, and she barged into my fiancé’s

shower at night in a camisole, I wouldn’t stand for it either!”

“You’re way over the line!”

“Are you into Mr. Lane or something?”

“She definitely is! Just now, when Mr. Lane called her name, everyone saw how happy she looked, all flustered

and dreamy!”

All the classmates pointed fingers at Sierra, whispering and gossiping.

Halsey sneered. “Sierra, I didn’t want to make a big deal out of this, but since you wouldn’t let it go and even

groveled in front of me in the cafeteria, I had no choice but to clarify things for everyone.”

“Sierra, you’re really awful,” someone chimed in.

“Let’s never be friends with her again!”

“With a friend like her, who knows what she’ll do behind your back.”

Sierra panicked. She hadn’t expected Shaun to show up as Halsey’s backup, and for both of them to team up to

take her down.

“Halsey, you’ve got it all wrong! I don’t feel that way about Mr. Lane! Zada, say something for me!”

She turned to Zada for help. Right now, Zada was her only ally.

Zada stood up. “Halsey, this happened a while ago. Didn’t we agree not to talk about it?”

Halsey opened her mouth, but Shaun cut in first. “Halsey might think it’s all water under the bridge, but I don’t! It’s true that she barged in while I was showering. Only she knows what she was trying to do!”

Zada gasped, “What…?”

Tears welled in Sierra’s eyes, and she choked out, “You’ve all misunderstood me…‘

“Guilty people like to hide behind tears, pretending to be weak to get sympathy. That’s a pretty low–level performance, don’t you think?” Shaun sneered.

Sierra was frozen. She could say or do nothing right—even shedding a few tears was seen as a performance.

She couldn’t utter a word, frozen in place.

Shaun squeezed Halsey’s hand. “I came to Anteoch University today to officially announce my relationship with Halsey. Also, she’s already pregnant with our baby, so I hope all of you can take extra care of her. Thank

you.” 1

Halsey had been wearing a loose dress, so no one had noticed her pregnancy.

With the pregnancy announcement, the classmates went wild. “Looks like we’re not just attending a wedding-

we’re also having a baby shower!”

Halsey’s eyes glowed with a soft, happy light. “Of course. We’ll invite everyone when the time comes!”
