Shane’s head hung low; he did not look at Yvonne. Sasha answered, “Isn’t it normal for us to eat here?”
The restaurant may have been luxurious, with a single meal costing a month’s salary. But the undeniable fact was that Shane and Sasha were well-off. They could still afford a meal!
Yvonne said disdainfully, “But Shane’s family abandoned him. Does he even have money for a meal here?”
Sasha replied calmly, “Of course. Haven’t you heard? Shane and I are starting a business together, and we’re off to a great start. In the past few days, we earned roughly a couple million dollars.”
Initially, Sasha wanted to stay low-key. But upon seeing Yvonne’s scornful attitude, Sasha decided to stand up for Shane. Otherwise, Yvonne would think that Shane was a pushover!
Upon hearing that, Yvonne looked at Shane in surprise. She asked, “If you had so much money, why did you eat at my place?”
“When I went over, I hadn’t started the business yet. Plus, didn’t I already give you 5,000 dollars? Did you want more?” Shane asked.
Yvonne explained, “But you were living at my house!”
Shane was confused, wondering if Yvonne thought he paid her too little and if she wanted him to pay more for accommodation.
Shane continued, “But I moved to a hotel when I saw your boyfriend. I didn’t even stay the entire night!
“Plus, your house is nothing like a five-star hotel. You can’t be asking for a few thousand dollars for one night, right?
“Also, I paid you for the food and the accommodation. Are you trying to hike up the price?”
Surprised, Yvonne asked, “Didn’t you have feelings for me?”
In Yvonne’s mind, if Shane had a crush on her, he should have accepted every condition she set. She was surprised by how Shane was refuting her. Yvonne wondered if Shane wasn’t worried that it would leave a bad impression on her.
When Shane heard Yvonne’s question, he glanced at Sasha grumpily. Sasha immediately looked down guiltily.
Shane said, “Somebody lied and told me you liked me. My father kicked me out of the house, and my friends wouldn’t help.
“I was all alone, so I misunderstood
that you were sincerely helping me.
If it weren’t for that, I would’ve never been interested in you. Later,
realized you didn’t like me, sol stopped liking you.”
Yvonne initially believed that she had a lot of charm. But after hearing Shane’s words, she finally realized it was all a lie. She snarled, “Who lied to you? Was it Annalise?
“I knew you weren’t a good person. Why? Are you trying to use me to attack
Jessica for stealing your husband?”
I was observing the entire
commotion and hadn’t expected Yvonne to suddenly shift the blame to me. With that, I couldn’t stay
silent sat up straight and replied, tsat
“I’m sorry, but I don’t have the time
to attack somebody completely unrelated to me.”
Upon hearing that, Yvonne scoffed and said, “If it wasn’t you, who else would want to trick me?”
