Chloe hissed, “Is it just because she’s kind and gentle?”
Steven countered with a question of his own. “What else would it be?”
Chloe demanded, “Can you swear to me that Annalise hasn’t contacted you recently? You haven’t met her, spoken to her, or even exchanged messages with her?”
“She blocked me,” Steven replied flatly, clearly irritated. “Why do I have to repeat this again? How exactly am I supposed to contact her? She’s been busy with her career lately She doesn’t have time for me.”
Chloe stiffened up. “That can’t be true.”
Steven said firmly, “It is. I know you’re still upset that I can’t forget her. But the more trouble you and Jessica cause the more I think about Annalise. Sometimes, I wish she were still by my side. Then I wouldn’t have to spend so much money.”
