“Were there many casualties last night?” she asked softly, though deep down she already sensed the answer.

Althea pouted. Then she slid her arms around his neck, resting her head against his chest.

Then she glanced at the table and quickly changed the subject. “Can we eat now? I can sit and eat on my own.”
As expected, Gavriel ignored her and began feeding her instead, pampering her without restraint. She didn’t complain and simply enjoyed the way he took care of her. After all, it wasn’t every day she got to experience being doted on like this.
If she thought about her past life, being treated as someone precious was something she had always longed for.
