“Seriously, Class G is such a joke. Are you guys the clowns sent here to entertain us? Even Marianna, the only one with halfway decent grades, ditched you for Class A. Who else in your class isn’t failing?” someone else laughed.
“Kayla, you’re dead last in the whole school, aren’t you? And now you think you can dream big?” Someone mocked.
Kayla turned around and looked at her classmates in Class G. Sure enough, everyone looked uncomfortable and tense.
Their faces showed even more resistance than when she’d first roped them into the debate tournament. Every single look screamed that they wanted to bail.
Tania’s stomach dropped when she saw everyone’s expressions, and she couldn’t hold back. “Kay, seriously, don’t do anything crazy. If it’s about grades, that’s just not worth it,” she pleaded.
