Chapter 42
“Jesus christ, Maya..you have experienced goodnesses I can only dream of witnessing in a year or two. My god! If only we had discovered this earlier…you and Adam would have been high school sweethearts.” Naomi groaned as we walked to her house.
Her bike had suddenly shut down on the road, and so we had had no choice but to walk the remainder of the journey.
I would have gone home, but then the party will be in a few hours time, and since I don’t have something appropriate to wear for the occasion, Maya’s house seemed like the best fit.
I don’t think my sister would want to lend me any of her dresses, especially after she hears about I and Adam. I am sure that the news must have spread in the tiny world of high schoolers by now. I just hope his parents doesn’t hear of it.
So, home is a no at the moment. I am not up for Lilian’s scrutinizing gaze or questions. Though my gut tells me that I will have enough of that at the party. It tells me too that I wouldn’t be ready for them. It also tells me that the party might not go in my favor, more like an evil foreboding. But I choose not to worry about that now. For now, I chose to live in the moment, and that’s why I laugh at Naomi’s comment, because it reminded me of what a great friend I had, and because it was funny.
So, her dreams for the next two years of her life was to get laid? Her mother would go berserk if she hears of this.
“C’mon Maya. Just a day into the style business, you already snagged the king’s son. Do you know what that means? You are the most attractive girl in this pack! Oh my gosh. My best friend and the king’s son..” She was singing with her all cracked voice, but I placed my palm over her mouth immediately, causing an abrupt halt to the next words which I already knew the contents of. The girl was going to put me in trouble.
“So, how many times did you guys do it?” She asked, and I sighed, even as I blushed heavily on that.
I had only told her that Adam had prepared a picnic in the inner parts of the garden, whilst hoping that she wouldn’t ask me to direct her to the exact location-knowing her, she would want to use the same location if the goddess was merciful enough to grant her, her heart desires in a man-thankfully, she didn’t. Then, I had told her that we had had sex after the picnic.
I had tried to keep the details out of her ears, but Naomi being Naomi made me recount the details as specific as I could.
After the first round, she was already fanning her face, and now she was asking this? Should I tell her that we did it again and again, close to four times-although Adam had made me experience orgasms more than a zillion times?
Wouldn’t she think that I am not a virgin, that I had been lying when I had said that I was one or probably that I was slutter than I looked p>
Well, Adam had that effect on me. Till now, I still blush in embarrassment when I remember my brazen actions, and the fact that all my inhibitions had flown off the window. It was like I was a different person.
“Maya, say something. How many times did you guys do it?” Naomi queried, holding my hand and swinging it, refusing to give up.
We were getting closer to her house. We had abandoned the e-bike under a tree along the road some minutes ago, and she had called her father about it. He would be coming soon to collect the bike himself.
“We did it three times.” I muttered finally, wishing the ground would open up and swallow me the next minute, especially since I couldn’t read the expression on Naomi’s face.
Astonishment? Shock? Disbelief?
I don’t know.
“Were you that sweet, or was he that good?” She asked, her voice tainted with awe and I couldn’t stop myself this time from shouting her name not minding who will hear.
“What! Is he cranky? like is he into all these kinky bdsm stuff? Did anything like that happen?” She asked, not bothered by my shouts.
I shook my head to either question.
“Okay, that’s good I think. Did something else happen?” She asked, and I shook my head again.
I believe this will be another secret that I will be keeping from her. The mark that Adam had given me, and about the ritual words he had said even though I had tried to stop him.
I still can’t wrap my head around it.
I still think that he shouldn’t have let his emotions gotten the best of him.
Because what about Claire?
What about the fact that she was the one that his father had chosen for him? What about my wolfless state?
No way would the Lycan king let me and his son tangle in a union, no matter his leniency to me now. We were just not bound to happen.

I cussed at my state inwardly, not wanting Naomi to ask me questions again.
This was suffering, if I should stay. I needed to leave, unless Adam came up with a better compromise by the end of the party.
If not, then I had to go. I can’t bear to see him act all lovey dovey with another person. It would kill me. I don’t think I would be able to live with that torture. It was better I left with at least his mark which was still throbbing and reminding me of him.
I also won’t tell Naomi about my enhanced hearing and sight too. I still need to know if it is a permanent thing or a temporary fix.
I guess that’s three secrets now. Three secrets that I will be keeping from my best friend. I hope it won’t come back to bite me in the ass.
