Chapter 46
The party was in full swing when the five of us stepped into the hall which had been selected for the send forth event.
Yes, that’s what it is. A send forth. An event designed to send me away from the pack, honorably though.
I could see a lot of parents. Parents of people I know and elders here and there, probably taking in how the party was going and probably making sure that things were moving as the lycan king wanted it.
Adam led us to a table where his friends and brothers were gathered drinking, talking, and watching me.
I noticed that everyone was actually doing those three activities, especially the last one- staring at me immediately as we had stepped into the party grounds, including my parents and the rest of the older people.
From the looks on their faces I could decipher what they are thinking about.
One, is that I was looking so beautiful to be Maya, the wolfless pariah-my brother, Lent’s mouth was dropped open in shock, and Lilian’s facial expression was phenomenal-I wished I could take pictures of their faces. They were still trying to understand the transformation, and how it had come about.
Naomi had really done a good job. I admitted to myself again.
I could see the mixed emotions of surprise and admiration in my mother’s eyes and the shock in my father’s. The others also had the same look.
The second reason was of course Adam’s presence near me.
“Aren’t you going to sit down?” That was Daniel.
His voice was gentler than usual even as he stared at me with lust in his eyes, not minding that Adam was right beside me, his hands slung around my waist.
Adam must have noticed this, because he ignored his brother, and led me to a two person couch farthest from the group where we both sat down.
It was obvious that he wanted us to be alone, and didn’t want much interference or disturbance. Daniel’s action must have piqued him out a lot.
I noticed Naomi sat with her brother. But she was looking a bit lost, and I felt bad because of that. After all, we had come to the party together, it was quite weird that I had left her alone. Read full story at.net
“Do you want to stay with her?..I could join my brothers Adam was saying, and I nodded without even thinking, pleased that he had read off my feelings.
With a pleased smile on his face, he dropped a kiss on my cheek and stood up from the couch before walking up to Naomi.
A smile slithered across Naomi’s face as Adam told her of our decision. Immediately, she sauntered toward me, her bag slinged along her shoulder.
I took my eyes away from her for a second to peruse the atmosphere and the environment when suddenly my eyes met with that of the Lycan King and his wife. I could count the number of times I have seen the duo. Just twice, in all of my life.
One, had been during the peace treaty signing, I was five then. The second had been at a party which was organized for the celebration of the colonies that had been added to the King’s collection. I was fourteen then. Since then, I haven’t laid my eyes on either of them.
There had been no occasion for seeing him again, especially since I had been ousted from pack meetings when it was discovered that I had no wolf gene.
The Lycan King stared at me with a blank expression on his face, and then his eyes strolled toward Adam who was now talking with Noah, whilst obviously ignoring Daniel who, I can see, was beginning to get agitated about the matter. I can read that feeling of his from the way his jaw was ticking.
Adam hadn’t expected his brother to look at me that way, with a lustful haze, especially after he had stated his claim on me, through his actions, hence his outright refusal to communicate with Daniel. I knew it would be short lived though. They were brothers after all. Triplets.
I wondered then what the Lycan was thinking, especially as his wife placed her palm over his hand as if to calm him down, her eyes still on me. She was so beautiful.
Not wanting to trouble my head the more over such issues, I shifted my gaze from them, moving it to Naomi who had managed in these few minutes to get two cups of drinks, and was walking toward me. She must have obviously taken a dive to the bar.
“Do you like the party?” She asked me as she handed a cup of wine to me.
I saw my mom furrowing her eyes at me, and I shrugged, before having a taste of the drink.
I shook my head at her. It wasn’t a strong drink. It was not alcohol. It was just juice. Noami is the best of the best. I saw my mother relax then before turning to my father and saying something.
“Yes, it’s okay. But I am not really into it. When is the Lycan king giving the address?” I asked her, actually meaning the statement about my departure from the pack.
As much as I was flattered by the reason for this party, I wasn’t really into it. I just wanted to talk with Adam.
I just wanted to know what his decision would be about us, about the fact that he had marked me earlier today.
Does it mean that I will stay or leave? The decision now laid in his hands.
Also, I am not ignorant of the shady, unfriendly looks I have been getting from some of the students, especially the female folk who believe that I didn’t deserve to have Adam as a date.
Claire’s minions especially were glaring at me, not minding who could see them. But Claire was absent.
I was just noticing this now. Didn’t she come? I didn’t know how to feel about that.
“Didn’t Claire come?” I asked Naomi, who was now-I just noticed-was in a conversation with a boy who looked familiar a bit, but I couldn’t place his face no matter how much I tried.
I just knew that he is from our pack, attends our school, and doesn’t bully me. He seem to be crushing on Naomi too. Too bad.
Naomi turned to me when she heard my question, her eyes scanning the crowd as assimilation set in.
“No, I don’t think she did. I don’t see her.” She replied, wanting to ask her brother, but forgetting it when she saw her brother biting the earlobes of a girl that had her ass up his groin, whilst staring at me.
It was creepy. Did he think that I was still crushing on him? He must be dreaming.
Naomi snorted, before she turned away. “Now he sees you? He is stupid.” She muttered, voicing my thoughts in the best way.
