Chapter 190
Can’t I have a moment of rest in my little life? I mused, watching Adam and his brothers watch me. Skepticism shrouded their eyes thickly. But would my unpredictability stop them from disturbing my already chaotic life? I don’t think so.
I sighed wearily. There must be some other way to get them off my back. Unless I might really have a fit here.
I was already fed up with the up and downs of this week.
First, it was the bullying episode on my first day. On my second day, I had gotten involved with another bullying episode in my workplace. My fourth and fifth days were uneventful-thank god. That’s apart from the meeting with the Queen. But today was the worst of all.
Today, I lost control over my magic powers, and burnt more than four classrooms. I just escaped from Raul and his enthralling eyes and love. I just escaped from expulsion from a school I have barely spent a week in. I just landed my ass into the Queen’s trap. And now, just when I had tried inhaling deeply to calm myself, I was running headlong into the arms of my nemesis.
Can it get any more worse?
Well, I didn’t have to run into their hands now, do I? I mentally asked myself, already turning aside to walk in the direction of Diana’s block.
This should be the best decision. I considered, aware of students stopping intermittently to stare at me. I was also aware that my heart wasn’t going off the hook either because of nervousness or fear when I sensed Adam and his brothers coming after me.
Raul, thank you. I muttered for the second time since the kiss. The kiss that had grounded me, and informed me that there are other boys who I could fall in love with. It mustn’t be with Adam.
As Adam came close however, I felt the mark which he had given me on my neck, the mark which I had thought had faded with the rejection, begin to pulse.
No no, I didn’t need this.
I gritted my teeth, and held back myself from touching the mark. Adam might see the action, and might begin to have stupid ideas. I didn’t want that.
I held my breath when I suddenly saw Raul approaching me. What had he gone to the children block to do? I wondered, wishing I could stop him and kiss him again. Maybe then, Adam would take the hint and let me be. But that would be using Raul, and I wasn’t even sure that Raul would allow me come a feet close to him.
That fact was confirmed when he walked past me without sparing me a glance. Oh, there was that. There goes the seemingly best option to keep Adam away from me.
When I felt a tap on my shoulder the next few seconds, I sighed tiredly, already knowing who it was. Adam. They must have increased their walking paces.
I thought of ignoring Adam, but I knew that if I did that, the idiot might drag me into his arms, like he had done back at the pack party. There was no telling what Adam would do. He was very unpredictable, just like the new me.
When I turned around, I noticed with dismay that more students had gathered, even teachers. Raul too had stopped by a wall, and was reclining in it. The prince was staring right at me, daring me to go with Adam. I almost went to him then. But for my resolve. No Raul. No Adam. Both of them were trouble in different shades. I didn’t want trouble.
“Still bent on avoiding us?” Adam asked with the aloof expression that was him, however I knew it was because he was with his brothers, because he was in public.
“Still bent on making my life miserable, on making yourself leeches?” I asked, folding my arms across my chest. If they wanted to do this here, then I will let them have it. What was the worse that could happen?
Noah sighed then, obviously tired with my taunts. But do I care now?
“We just want to talk. We just want to know why you hate us, Dora.” He said, flanking Adam by the left.
“And how does that matter to you, Noah? Why should you care about what a commoner thinks of you p>
Silence greeted my question.
Then I added the last tag with flourish. unless you want to bed her p>
I scoffed, as if the realization just dawned on me. “Get out of here. I’m already in enough trouble today, I don’t need another dose p>
The students started murmuring then, however I didn’t care to listen to them. The students here barely made any sense.
I turned away to continue on my journey, but Adam held me from moving one step, by placing his strong hand on my arm.
This time though, Daniel subtly removed his brother’s hand from my arm. He subtly came to stand between the both of us.
Dude was marking a territory, a girl, ’touch not’ from his brother?
I laughed, unable to help it. Interesting turn of events.
Daniel’s actions seemed to dawn on him then, for he scratched the base of his neck nervously, and refused to meet Adam’s or Noah’s gaze.
“I though you three loved sleeping with the same girl. What changed p>
The trio gave me no answer.
I shook my head. “I’m outta here p>
“Wait Daniel called out to me, before I could take another step.
“What do you want, Daniel? Marry me p>
I looked at Adam as I said this, a smirk buttering my lips when I noticed the flicker of awareness in his eyes, an event which lasted only for a second.
Adam knew what I was about to reveal now. He knew that it would bring issues between him and his brothers, but he still maintained the aloofness that was him.
Daniel and Noah darted glances between us then.
“What’s she talking about Adam?” Daniel asked, his eyes twitching intermittently.
Was he about to go wacko?
Adam shrugged his shoulders, nonchalance dripping at every angle. “The last time I was here, I told her about father’s plan to engage the both of you. Was that a wrong step, Daniel p>
Daniel furrowed his eyebrows. He didn’t see anything wrong with Adam’s actions, neither did Noah, neither did the students and teachers who were watching us, not bothering to hide their curiosity.
Well, I will make them to see Adam’s selfishness.
“It was wrong, Adam I started slowly, relishing every word that dropped. especially since you knew that telling me will cause me to rebel. As a matter of fact, you told me because of that exact reason. You knew I hated you all. Yet you told me, so that I can prepare my refusal to the Lycan’s request on time. Gasps exploded around the community of students. Daniel clenched his fists. Noah had a blank expression on his face, just like Adam.
“Still, I’m not sure how Rachel would feel about that, either as your first cousin, or your soon to be mate p>
I scrunched my face as I said this, not minding the extra gasps that came from students around, or the deadly glare that Daniel threw to Adam. I have never understood the first cousin marriage thing. Laura had explained that it was acceptable. But… wasn’t it weird? Doesn’t the person seem like a sibling?
“So, you believe her?” Adam asked Daniel, his voice ringing with incredulity and humor.
The narcissistic prick!
It was then I noticed that Daniel had turned away from me, and was right in the face of Adam.
“I do.” Daniel answered without wasting a second, causing shock to fleet past Noah Adam’s eyes. This lasted only for a second, just before Daniel dealt a blow to Adam.
The students started an uproar.
Good.
Adam staggered under the weight of the punch, which I was sure would leave a bruise on his fine cheek. Yet, Daniel wasn’t done.
“You selfish prick! Why didn’t you tell me you wanted her too? Why defame her in front of us, and chase her behind us? You wanted her for yourself alone p>
Daniel punched Adam again. Heavily. So heavily that Adam fell to the ground.
No one made a move to help him, not even Noah.
Noah. The Brekan was staring at me rather.
“Were you gunning for this, Dora?” He asked me, not bothering to look at Adam who was heaving roughly and had a cut on his lip, or at Daniel who was seeking to deal more blows.
“Not really, but this is a better outcome. A much better outcome.” I said with a laugh, aware of Adam’s glance at me, right then. A glance void of contempt. A blank glance.
I hated to think it affected me as I turned away from him, away from them and continued on my way to find my guardians.
