Chapter 46
Chapter 47 The Ashtray
In his rage, Chester snatched the ashtray from the table and hurled it at her. “You’re still stealing! You
bastard p>
Tatiana couldn’t dodge in time and took the full force of the blow. Her scalp immediately split open and began to bleed. Her ears rang, and a wave of dizziness washed over her.
Blood streamed down, blurring her vision and dripping onto the floor.
Lauren, startled, rushed to stop him. “What are you doing? Don’t be violent p>
Chester felt no guilt at all. Instead, he pressed her, “What did you steal? Hand it over now p>
Bianca interceded hypocritically. “Dad, she didn’t steal it. I gave her that necklace. Please don’t blame her, okay p>
Chester heard that. “She stole your necklace? Which one p>
Bianca said with feigned difficulty, “It’s the ‘Heart of Dust‘ pendant Jasper gave me p>
Lauren was shocked. “Is that the custom–made one? The one that cost 1.3 million? ”
Bianca bit her lower lip and nodded. “Yes.” T
hen she quickly shook her head. “But Tatiana didn’t take it. I gave it to her. She’s not that kind of person p>
Lauren’s heart ached. “Silly Bianca, you’re just too kind. You loved that necklace so much, you barely ever wore it. And now that it’s stolen, you’re still protecting her p>
Tatiana sat collapsed on the floor, the pain in her abdomen having gone numb. The dizziness in her head slowly subsided. She looked up at the family of three and began to laugh quietly.
The laughter caught their attention. Chester frowned, “What are you laughing at p>
She said hoarsely, “There are cameras. You can check the footage p>
Bianca’s face stiffened. She immediately glanced at the maid, who understood and quickly said, “The cameras have been broken for the last two days. She must have known that, which is why she dared to steal p>
Tatiana slowly stood up. The cloth covering her fell to the floor.
She staggered, barely managed to stay upright, and then began to unbutton her clothes.
Lauren shrieked, “What are you doing! Have you no sense of shame?” Chapters first released on.net
Her eyes were hollow, as if her soul had been crushed, leaving only an empty shell behind.
Dignity?
She no longer had any.
“I didn’t take it. You… can search p>
She opened her arms, unresisting, waiting to be searched.
Seeing her like this, the Lowell couple wavered. Did she really steal it?
Just as the atmosphere reached a tense stalemate, Xavier walked in from outside. Seeing this scene, he froze. “What happened p>
He looked up, saw Tatiana’s bleeding head and blood–stained pants. His brow twitched. “What’s going on? Susan, bring the first–aid kit p>
The maid, Susan, had no intention of getting it. She tattled, “Miss Tatiana stole Ms. Bianca’s necklace, the one worth over a million p>
With the maid adding fuel to the fire, Xavier learned the whole story. But he didn’t think Tatiana would steal, unless…
“Tatiana, I know you’re jealous that Bianca got a necklace from Jasper, but you shouldn’t have taken it. Give it back, and we’ll let this go p>
Xavier thought these words were for her own good, giving her a chance to make amends, priding himself on being fair. But he didn’t realize his heart had been biased from the start.
At this moment, even though Tatiana was long numb and held no more expectations for them, she was still deeply stung.
They were convinced she had taken Bianca’s necklace.
And they had even supplied the motive.
“I didn’t take it,” she repeated stubbornly.
Xavier frowned. “Even if Bianca misspoke yesterday and you were angry, she already apologized. You wouldn’t even open your door. Are you now taking her necklace as punishment p>
Bianca pulled Xavier’s sleeve. “I gave it to her p>
“Bianca, stop covering for her p>
Just as everyone was united against a common enemy, denouncing Tatiana and trying to force her to produce the non–existent necklace.
Tatiana remained very quiet, not refuting them hysterically, as if waiting for something.
A bad premonition suddenly washed over Bianca. Before she could speak, police sirens sounded outside.
Immediately, several police officers pushed open the door. “Who called the police p>
When the officers noticed Tatiana’s miserable state, they immediately assumed this was a domestic assault, and their expressions hardened.
Tatiana answered hoarsely, “I did p>

While the maid was busy tattling to the Lowell couple, and not paying attention, she had used the landline to call the police.
From the very beginning, she had held no hope for them. Even though she had lived in this house for
twenty years.
One of the female officers stepped forward to support Tatiana. “Miss, you need to go to the hospital to treat your wound. Did someone assault you p>
When Chester saw the police, his face tensed. He immediately changed his tune: “Nothing like that! We’re family, just having a little disagreement. It’s nothing p>
“This doesn’t look much like a family disagreement,” the female officer said meaningfully.
Bianca also panicked. What the hell! How did Tatiana dare to call the police?
No one had expected her to pull a move like this!
The Lowell family was a prominent family. Their biggest taboo was public embarrassment or scandal. So, when they saw the police, their first instinct was to get rid of them.
