Chapter 50
Chapter 51 An Unexpected Ally
“Is this Tatiana? I’m your lawyer. Is it a convenient time to meet? I’m very interested in your case.
Her heart skipped a beat. She immediately agreed, “Yes, it is p>
After setting a time and place, she hung up and hurried over.
On the other side, Chandler grabbed his coat, ready to leave. His assistant stopped him. “You can just give this pro bono case to an intern. You don’t need to handle it personally p>
“Molly, postpone my other cases. The ones you can’t postpone, give to someone else. I’m leaving
“Chandler p>
Chandler left quickly.
Tatiana arrived early at the meeting spot. She ordered an iced water and sat waiting, her mind racing, wondering if she could actually win this case.
Footsteps approached.
She looked up and froze.
The man in the gray suit standing in front of her was very familiar.
“What, you don’t recognize me p>
“Chandler p>
Tatiana never would have imagined that the lawyer defending her would be Chandler.
He was the senior from university who had always looked out for her. Later, he had suddenly gone abroad to study, and she had been forced to drop out after her identity was exposed.
Seeing an old acquaintance, she suddenly felt awkward, so much so that she wanted to stand up and leave.
“Don’t be so nervous. Right now, I’m just your lawyer p>
She was stuck, not knowing whether to sit or go.
Why did it have to be Chandler?
Why did he have to see her in such a pathetic state?
To ease the awkwardness, Chandler smiled. “It seems you’re not happy to see me. My firm has plenty of other lawyers. I can have someone else take over p>
“No, no, that’s not… that’s not what I mean p>
“Since you’re not trying to get rid of me, let’s talk. You want to sue Westport Rehab p>

She nodded.
“Why p>
Her hands clenched, her knuckles turning white, as if she were trying to overcome a mental block.
Chandler waited patiently for her answer. His peripheral vision, however, caught sight of her hands-
They were coarse, covered in thick calluses, the knuckles deformed. There were small, unhealed cuts, and her fingernails were only half–grown.
He remembered those hands. They had once played beautiful music, shining at the new student welcome
ceremony.
His expression changed. He grabbed her hand, his tone urgent. “What happened to your hands p>
She was startled and instinctively tried to pull her hand back. “I… I’m fine. I just… fell. Let go p>
“This is definitely not from a fall p>
“Chandler p>
“You’re suddenly suing Westport Rehab… is it because you were in there? Did they abuse you p>
He hit the nail on the head.
Tatiana’s struggle stopped. ᴛʜɪs ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ɪs ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ʙʏ.net
It had been over half a month since she left the rehab center. She had met many people, but this was the only one who had realized she was abused.
Seeing her vacant expression, Chandler’s heart sank. He pulled her to sit back down. “Tell me. Don’t be nervous. I’ll help you p>
Her eyes reddened. She said hoarsely, “Thank you p>
Chandler pulled out a tissue to gently wipe her tears.
Before he could touch her, she flinched away, unused to a man being so close.
Chandler handed her the tissue. “No rush. Take your time p>
He had no idea that this exact scene was being watched from a car across the street.
Shawn took out his phone and snapped several misleadingly angled shots.
Looking at the photos, he revealed a smug smile. “I never thought this woman was such a slut. Everywhere she goes, men are falling all over her. Nope, I have to send these to Jasper p>
Jackson Corp Headquarters.
Jasper was looking down at a document while his secretary gave a report. His phone suddenly vibrated. He glanced at it, intending to ignore it, but the sender sent several more messages in a row.
His long finger tapped the screen. A photo filled his vision.
He froze.
In the photo, the two people were intimate. The girl had her head down shyly, while the man reached out to gently caress her cheek.
He swiped. The man was grabbing the girl’s wrist, as if trying to keep her from leaving.
He picked up the phone, his eyes turning cold.
The secretary at his side sensed something was wrong and stopped the report.
Jasper stared at the phone for a long time. A frosty, murderous aura radiated from him, and the pressure in the room dropped lower and lower.
The secretary’s heart trembled, wondering who could have provoked the boss, who was normally so inscrutable.
He stood up and tossed out a command: “Cancel the rest of my meetings p>
“Let’s leave it at this for today. I won’t force you to say too much at once. When you’re mentally prepared, we’ll continue p>
Chandler knew very well how much psychological trauma this case would involve, so he didn’t try to force the details out of her.
Tatiana’s face was full of gratitude. “Thank you.” She hesitated, then added, “But… the lawyer’s fee p>
Chandler had been the star of the law school back then. He was most likely a top lawyer now, and his fees wouldn’t be low.
“It’s fine. Don’t feel pressured. As I just said, this case is a challenge for me. If we win, it will boost my reputation. The money is secondary p>
She clenched her hands, her voice hesitant. “Can we… actually win p>
