Chapter 53 An Unexpected Gesture
Jasper took off his suit jacket, but instead of handing it to the hostess, he turned and tossed it at Tatiana.
It hit her in the face. She fumbled to catch the coat.
The hostess glanced at Tatiana, a flash of dissatisfaction in her eyes, before smiling and saying, “I’ll take
that p>
Just holding the coat was a coveted task, a privilege reserved for only one person.
Tatiana quickly tried to hand the coat over, but his intense gaze frightened her, and she pulled it back.
Jasper said coldly to the overly familiar hostess, “Leave us p>
He detested anyone who overstepped.
The hostess’s face paled. Just as she was about to say something, she was yanked away by the maître d p>
“Our apologies, sir, for the disturbance. Please show Mr. Jackson to his room p>
The maître d‘ quickly called over another server to lead the way.
After Jasper had left, the maître d‘ turned and stared coldly at the hostess. “Raine, you don’t need to come in tomorrow p>
“Sir, I know I was wrong. I was just trying to be helpful p>
“Do you know what you were doing, or do I? Are you blind, or am I? Get rid of those little ideas of yours. The guests who come here are not for you to climb. With those unrealistic fantasies, you’re not fit to stay here! On second thought, don’t wait for tomorrow. Pack your things and leave. Now p>
“Sir, I p>
“Don’t make me throw you out p>
Raine’s eyes reddened. She turned and left, full of humiliation.
The maître d‘ cursed behind her, “Just because she held his coat a few times, she started thinking she was someone p>
Raine’s face grew even paler, and she ran off, crying.
Tatiana followed behind, holding the coat, feeling every bit the servant.
He had never respected her. In his eyes, she was probably worth less than one.
They soon arrived at the room.
They were early; his grandfather hadn’t arrived yet. The younger generation could not make the elder
wait. It was bad manners.

The room was stunning, decorated with palatial luxury,
She was just about to hang the coat up when he stopped her, “Hold it p>
She pressed her lips together and had no choice but to hold it.
Not long after, his grandfather arrived.
The moment he entered, he saw his dear granddaughter–in–law holding Jasper’s coat, and he beamed.
The two of them are really on good terms!
That boy used to be such a germaphobe. He never let anyone hold his coat like that. If it picked up a scent, he’d never wear it again.
But now, poof! The germaphobe is gone!
“You must have been waiting. Sit down, sit down! Let’s get the food up here. You must be starving p>
His grandfather ushered them to sit. Barry and Marilyn followed behind him. For more chapters visit ~net
Because it was just a private family meal, there weren’t too many rules. The atmosphere was relaxed.
The group took their seats.
A server poured fresh tea.
Tatiana was a little thirsty. She picked up the cup to take a sip, but the cup itself was scalding. She flinched, and tea spilled out, splashing directly onto the coat in her lap.
Her face stiffened. She instinctively shot a panicked look at Jasper, terrified he would explode in anger.
Jasper frowned. “Did you get burned p>
“No, I didn’t. I’m sorry… I’ll wipe it off for you. I’m sorry p>
She pulled out a tissue to wipe the coat, but her fingers stung, and she hissed in pain. The next second, a large, warm hand grasped her wrist.
“Did you hurt your hand p>
She instinctively tried to pull away. “It’s… it’s nothing p>
“Don’t move. Let me see p>
His grip was strong. He forcibly opened her hand and saw her palm was bright red. It was clearly burned.
Her grandfather became concerned. “What’s wrong, dear? Did you get burned? Is it serious? Should we get you to a hospital p>
Jasper stood up, pulling her with him. “I’m taking her to get this treated. Please, start without us. Don’t
wait p>

With that, he led Tatiana from the private room.

Once the two had left, his grandfather chuckled. “Jasper is finally learning how to care for someone. It wasn’t easy. It just goes to show that relationships take work. All those years she spent devoted to him
weren’t in vain p>
Barry and Marilyn smiled and played along, neither of them having told the old gentleman that Jasper had personally sent Tatiana to the rehab center–an act that even Marilyn felt had gone too far.
The maître d‘ quickly had someone bring a first–aid kit to treat Tatiana’s burned palm. The estate had its own doctor on duty for accidents, but when the doctor saw Tatiana’s hands, his face was full of shock.
Tatiana instinctively tried to hide her hands, but Jasper held them firm. “Don’t move p>
Jasper’s expression was dark. He fixed the doctor with a stare. “Hurry up p>
The doctor quickly treated the burn, applying a layer of cooling ointment and instructing her not to use that hand for the time being.
Jasper looked at the new injury on her hands. He remembered how she had tirelessly dragged him back on that rainy night, and his heart softened slightly. “Give her the ointment p>
“Yes, sir. This is an excellent ointment. Apply it three times a day, and it will heal quickly. It can also help fade the other scars on her hands p>
“Add two more bottles p>
Tatiana wanted to say it wasn’t necessary, but she swallowed the words.
Jasper never listened to anyone else’s opinion. He was too stubborn.
