A little past midnight, Brenna lay curled up under the blanket, eyes fixed on her phone screen. She had connected her phone to a laptop stationed outside the bedroom. Its webcam was pointed directly at the door.
To make sure nothing was missed, she had left the hallway light on.
The door soon creaked open. Then, two tall figures slipped into the room, moving like shadows. Judging from their broad figures, they were unmistakably men. Black hoods covered their faces, and each carried a gun, the barrels fitted with silencers.
