Chapter 240
Chapter 240:
They stepped into the elevator and headed down to the underground parking lot. After they arrived, the elevator doors opened. Suddenly, the lights inside the…
The elevator lights and the entire parking area suddenly went out, plunging them into complete darkness.
Brenna stood still, listening intently. The silence around them was so profound that even the faintest sound seemed loud.
“Why did the power suddenly go out?” Brenna asked.
Thiago immediately sensed something was wrong. The building’s security system was top-notch and incredibly reliable. They had operated two studios here for about five years without a single power outage.
Without hesitation, he moved in front of Brenna, shielding her with his body. “Something’s not right. Stay alert,” he said.
Brenna also sensed danger. She quickly tightened her grip on her backpack and reached for her phone, preparing to turn on the flashlight. But Thiago anticipated her move and whispered urgently, “Don’t turn on the flashlight p>
Brenna immediately turned off her phone screen, realizing that if the outage wasn’t an accident, using the flashlight would give away their position.
Being exposed while the enemy remained hidden was extremely dangerous. Then, the sound of footsteps grew louder, steadily closing in. As Brenna’s and Thiago’s eyes adjusted to the darkness, they realized the footsteps were now only five paces away.
They stepped out of the elevator, pressing their backs against it to avoid being surrounded.
Suddenly, the lights flickered back on, revealing a crowd of about thirty people in the previously empty parking lot. Their hair was dyed in every imaginable color, and black masks covered most of their faces, making it impossible to identify anyone. They advanced slowly toward Brenna and Thiago.
“This chick looks like she’s got some fire,” said a man with bleached blond hair, his eyes boldly fixed on Brenna, filled with lust.
At the front of the group stood a man who seemed to be their leader. He smacked a steel pipe rhythmically against his open palm, never taking his sharp eyes off Brenna and Thiago.
Next to him, a smaller man pulled a pack of cigarettes from his jacket pocket. He offered one to the leader, lighting it with respect. He said, “Mr. O’Callaghan, this chick looks good. You can enjoy her first p>
Jay O’Callaghan, the leader, let out a low chuckle, clearly pleased with himself. “You can all have your turn with the Harper family’s daughter later,” he said.
To his right, a man with blue hair licked his lips, his expression lewd and repulsive. “We’ve never had the pleasure of sleeping with a woman from a wealthy family before. I wonder what that’s like,” he sneered.
He then pulled out his phone, a sly grin spreading across his face. “Let’s take plenty of pictures. We can use them to extort the Harper family when we’re out of cash. We’ll never have to worry about money again,” he said.
