Chapter 434
Within moments, Brock strode into Jaxon’s office with a detail of soldiers. Without preamble, he slapped a military arrest warrant on the desk.
“Time to come with us for questioning,” Brock said, a wry smile on his face as he produced a black mask. “You want to keep this off the international news, you’ll wear it. Your call.”
Words barely left Jaxon’s lips, his voice shaking. “And what am I being charged with?”
A sharp grin split Brock’s face. “Ronan’s confession named you as an accomplice. Don’t waste your breath—save it for the tribunal. Let’s see if you end up with a firing squad or a last-minute reprieve.”
Absolute terror froze Jaxon in place. He couldn’t even stand without support as soldiers took him by the arms.
A final encounter awaited in the hallway: the Minister of Defense appeared in the distance, eyes meeting Jaxon’s across the space. Panic flared and faded. Then Jaxon suddenly remembered something, and his resistance drained away. He let them haul him out to the waiting car without a word.
For everything that remained, Brad would take command.
Evidence gathered by Rylie, along with the children she had rescued from the pirates, accompanied Brad as he built the case.
All of Ronan’s crimes—his abuse of authority for cross-border organ trafficking, and the scandal of outdated emergency equipment linked to embezzlement—were exposed for the world to see.
While the Boyd family attempted to leverage their patent rights for a return to favor, their hopes were dashed. The Navy’s top commander scrapped all contracts with the Boyd family, choosing instead to outfit ships with Rylie’s innovative new equipment.
Brad later asked if she wanted public credit as chief designer, but Rylie chose anonymity over acclaim.
Spotlights and recognition held little appeal for her, so at the official press conference, Brad quietly left the designer’s identity unmentioned.
Meanwhile, Marsha took the stage as a witness. She portrayed herself as someone who had set aside family loyalty for the sake of justice, and in her role as director of HaloFlow Hospital, she garnered widespread admiration and new supporters.
Seeing Rylie in action during the rescue had changed Marsha’s perspective. The old resentment faded, replaced by respect for Rylie’s astonishing expertise. When pressed by reporters about Brad, Marsha answered honestly that their connection was purely friendship.
No amount of confidence could push Marsha to challenge Rylie for Brad’s affection. Against someone like Rylie, there was simply no contest.
Long ago, the Wilde family had set their sights on HaloFlow Pharmacy, so many were mystified when Rylie later chose a Wilde descendant as director of HaloFlow Hospital.
Confusion lingered among the pharmacy staff, prompting questions and uncertain glances. Rylie met them with a calm explanation. “I’ve guided Marsha carefully. She knows better than to step out of line. If she betrays me, she’ll face the consequences, and she’s well aware. Treat her as you would any other supervisor.”
