Chapter 444
“Enough!” The head of the Academic Affairs Office finally exploded, his voice sharp with fury. The scandal had already reached the Department of Education, placing him directly in the crosshairs. If this mess continued, it could cost him his position, and the anger in his glare left no doubt about where his blame lay. He drew in a sharp breath, forcing himself to keep his tone level, his voice carrying a weight of restrained anger. “Zaylee, when you transferred here with stellar grades, I believed you to be a student of integrity as well as intellect. But what I see now is a capable student blinded by envy. Let me make this perfectly clear: these exam papers were not written by anyone in this school. The entire…”
The test was designed to simulate the upcoming college entrance exam. The questions were prepared by professors from a top-ranking university, sealed, and only delivered to us on the day of the test. Even our own teachers had no knowledge of the contents beforehand. Tell me, under those circumstances, how could Melany possibly have cheated?
The weight of his words hung heavy in the room. A false accusation of this scale against Brightwood High’s faculty would not only strip teachers of their livelihoods but stain their entire careers and futures beyond repair.
Thus, the Department of Education immediately launched a thorough investigation upon receiving the complaint, even reviewing the alleged incident at the restaurant. Every private room there was equipped with surveillance cameras, making it simple to verify what truly happened.
Gunter’s expression hardened as he voiced his displeasure, his tone sharp and unwavering. “Before you act, you should think carefully about the consequences. By making such reckless accusations, do you realize what kind of fate you’re condemning Melany to? Are you prepared to bear the weight of ruining her future?”
Cheating in an exam carried severe penalties—instant expulsion and a permanent mark on school records.
And once expelled from Brightwood High, no prestigious school in all of Crolens would ever consider admitting her again. It would be no different from cutting off her future entirely.
“Zaylee, let me make this clear. Whether Melany cheated or not is something every teacher in this school knows without a doubt.” The head of the Academic Affairs Office slammed his palm against the table, his voice thundering with authority. “You make accusations without solid proof, yet you think there won’t be consequences? Understand this—you’ll have to bear every one of them!” His outburst was fierce and unrestrained, offering not a shred of leniency, despite Zaylee being a girl.
Her face was drained of color, her lips trembling uncontrollably.
Since transferring under the prestigious Morgan family name, she had only ever been treated with respect by teachers. Never once had she been rebuked with such harshness. It had to be because of Rylie.
Rylie was truly something—able to make these teachers shield Melany so fiercely. She must have spent quite a bit of money!
“Zaylee, the surveillance footage from the restaurant’s private room shows Miss Owen sharing study notes with our teacher, not leaking exam questions as you claimed. The Department of Education has reviewed this thoroughly,” said Gunter, his tone measured but firm, clearly mindful of Brad’s influence. “If you continue making baseless accusations, the school will have no choice but to take direct disciplinary action against you. You have classes to attend, so you may leave now.”
