Chasing His Scentless Mate Chapter 388

Chapter 388 Awakening

Ava’s POV

I was floating in warmth, suspended in a sea of gentle fog. My consciousness drifted aimlessly as an unfamiliar yet powerful force flowed through my veins, spreading to every corner of my body. Through the haze of my thoughts, a soft yet distinct voice called to me repeatedly.

“Ava… Ava…”

I struggled to follow the sound, groping blindly through the mist until the voice became clearer, more substantial.

“Finally, I can see you,” the voice said, filled with emotion.

My mind jolted with surprise. “Who are you?” I asked into the void.

“I’m your wolf , Leila.” The voice was tender, intimate. “Yes, we’re finally meeting.”

“My wolf ?” I whispered in disbelief. “So I’m not… I actually have a wolf?”

All my life, I’d believed my mixed blood made me defective. Being a wolfless omega in a world of wolves had been my identity, my burden, my shame.

“I’ve always been inside you,” Leila explained, her tone tinged with sadness. “Since you were fourteen. I’ve existed all this time, but I was sealed by magic, unable to communicate or reveal myself. Now that the seal is broken, I can finally reach you.”

“Sealed?” I latched onto this critical piece of information. “Who sealed you?”

“Your mother, Odelia.”

“My mother?” The two words exploded in my mind like thunder. My eyes snapped open, my chest heaving as cold sweat beaded on my forehead.

As my eyes focused, I saw Kenneth sitting by my bed, his face full of worry.

“You’re awake,” he said, leaning forward. “How do you feel?”

Instinctively, my eyes went to his chest where the bullet wounds had been. “Kenneth, your injuries… are you okay?”

The image of using every drop of my power to save him was still vivid in my mind. Even now, my first thought was for his safety.

Kenneth smiled warmly. “I’m fine, thanks to you. I’ve recovered much faster than expected.” He paused, studying my face intently. “Ava, have you noticed anything different about yourself?”

“Different?” I hesitated, then focused inward.

Suddenly, my senses exploded with information—I could hear the footsteps and breathing of pack warriors patrolling in the distance, insects crawling in the grass outside, even conversations from the far end of the hallway beyond the medical room. The air was thick with the scent of herbs, the moonlit vegetation, and the distant moisture of a stream.

My senses had never been this sharp before.

“My hearing and smell… they’re incredibly keen,” I whispered, amazed. “I’ve never experienced anything like this.”

“It’s more than that,” Kenneth said confidently. “Your power now… you’re no longer an omega, Ava. You’ve become an Alpha.”

“An Alpha…” The truth hit me hard as Leila’s voice sounded in my head, “It wasn’t a dream, Ava. I’m really here with you.”

Noticing my dazed expression, Kenneth asked gently, “You’ve found your wolf, haven’t you?”

I nodded slowly. “Yes, her name is Leila. She’s been inside me all along, just sealed away.”

I paused, looking at Kenneth with a strange sense of connection.

Alphas can sense their children through blood ties, and children can feel their parents’ presence. But with Kenneth, I only felt familiar warmth and closeness—not the tie of shared blood. He really wasn’t my father.

“Everyone in the pack is grateful,” Kenneth said softly. “You saved those pups. They all recognize your ability and dedication now.”

His gaze focused intently on me as he continued, his tone sincere, “You’ve been staying here for almost a month. Have you considered officially joining my pack?”

“Join your pack…” I hesitated. “You mean, stay here permanently?”

“Yes.” Kenneth nodded. “This could be your home.”

I lowered my gaze, conflicted. “I need some time to think about it.”

Kenneth didn’t push. “Of course. You just woke up. Rest well.” He turned and quietly left the medical room.

Once alone, I immediately connected with Leila. “Why did my mother seal you away? What secrets is she hiding?”

Leila’s voice carried confusion. “I don’t know exactly. I only know Odelia used magic to seal me. If you want the truth, you’ll have to ask her yourself.”

I was quiet for a moment before asking, “Kenneth invited us to join his pack. Should we stay?”

“I’ve just awakened and don’t know this world well,” Leila answered cautiously. “But something about Kenneth makes me… wary.”

“Wary?” I was surprised. “But Kenneth has been nothing but kind. He’s protected me multiple times.”

“Maybe I’m overthinking it. It’s just a feeling, nothing specific. Forget I mentioned it.”

Hearing this, I pushed the doubt away.

The next morning, Kenneth came to the medical room to tell me his wounds had completely healed.

“You’ve just awakened your wolf,” he offered. “I can teach you to control this power, help you connect better with Leila, and learn to shift.”

I eagerly agreed.

Under Kenneth’s guidance, I quieted my mind and deepened my connection with Leila, strengthening our bond.

By sunset, I successfully shifted for the first time—my blue fur gleamed in the fading light, my form agile, my eyes alert.

Seeing my successful transformation, Kenneth’s eyes flashed with approval before he transformed into a massive black wolf, powerful and imposing.

I instinctively moved closer, sniffing gently, asking, “Are you really completely healed? Are you pushing yourself?”

The black wolf dipped his head in a nod and released a deep but gentle howl that seemed to say “Don’t worry.”

Then he took the lead, heading toward the forest. I followed closely, my form moving gracefully in the moonlight.

This was my first time running freely as a wolf. The wind rushed past my ears carrying the scents of vegetation and water. The soil beneath my paws felt soft and real. Insect sounds filled the air as moonlight enveloped me gently. Leila’s joy flowed through our bond, and I completely surrendered to the experience, racing through the forest, feeling the wildness and freedom in my blood.

All the insecurities from being discriminated against because of my mixed blood, all the feelings of inadequacy from not having a wolf—they vanished.

I finally embraced my werewolf identity and owned my power. For the first time, I felt a sense of belonging, as if I’d finally found my place in the world.

After an exhilarating run, we returned to the pack house and shifted back to human form.

As I straightened my clothes, I suddenly remembered my phone. I wanted to contact my mother Odelia about the truth behind sealing my wolf, and check on Joseph’s condition. I still worried about him.

I searched my room frantically but couldn’t find my phone anywhere.

Kenneth noticed my distress and spoke up. “Your phone was probably destroyed during the rogues attack. Things were chaotic, it might have been crushed or lost at the scene.”

Hearing this explanation, my anxiety lessened slightly. It made sense.

I sighed softly, still worried about Joseph but reasoning that as a pack Alpha, he surely had many loyal friends caring for him. He wouldn’t be alone.

With my newly awakened powers and Leila by my side, perhaps establishing myself here and becoming familiar with my new identity and abilities was the most important thing right now.
