Chapter 31 A Desperate Rescue

They immediately dispatched all available hands to surround and search that section of the mountain road.

But the torrential rain hindered the operation. Any traces they had left behind were also washed away. There were no clues; they could only search inch by inch.

Barry and Marilyn didn’t dare tell the Old Master about this. They rushed over anxiously themselves, holding umbrellas and watching the search and rescue team.

Marilyn was so anxious she started to cry. “Jasper was perfectly fine. How could he have gotten into an accident here p>

Barry was just about to speak when he heard a subordinate shout, “We found something over here p>

Barry and Marilyn immediately sprinted over.

They saw a piece of cloth snagged on a tree. The fabric was high–quality, recognizable as Jasper’s clothing.

Marilyn’s face paled, and a bad feeling surged in her heart. “Did Jasper… did he roll down p>

The subordinate offered an even more terrifying guess: “Mr. Jackson likely fell. Below is the moat. The rain is too heavy, and the water level is rising. It will soon flood this area. We must find him quickly p>

Marilyn fainted immediately and was caught by Barry, who held her tightly. “Quick, call a doctor p>

While calling for a doctor, Barry ordered them, “Search! You must find him for me! Or you’re all finished p>

If the Jackson family lost Jasper…

Barry didn’t dare to think about it.

Everyone searched with all their might, but a bad premonition quietly surfaced in their hearts.

In such extreme weather, if one was injured… the consequences were unimaginable.

Jasper sensed the temperature steadily draining from his body.

Cold.

Very cold.

Every inch of his skin felt frozen stiff.

The scene before his eyes blurred.

He leaned back quietly, sitting like a stone statue.

Just as he was about to lose consciousness, a pair of hands suddenly started pulling at him.

He awoke with a start, looked up, and saw someone who shouldn’t be there.

“What did you come back for p>

His voice was unbelievably hoarse.

Tatiana didn’t make a sound, strenuously dragging him up and placing him on a simple raft.

It was called a raft, but it was really just a few tree trunks and vines tied together, convenient for dragging.

He watched her blankly. It wasn’t until he was sitting on the raft that he saw her hands–they were in a terrible state.

Her fingers were covered in wounds, the flesh torn open and washed white by the water. One section of her thumb was even bent and deformed.

To tie this raft, her hands had already gone from excruciating pain to numbness.

“Are you stupid? Why did you p>

Before he could get the words ‘come back‘ out, she interrupted him.

“You’re so noisy! Don’t talk. If you die, I can’t live!” Thɪs chapter is updated by ͟.net

She gritted her teeth, pulled the raft’s tow rope, and desperately climbed upward.

“Let go! You can’t pull me at all. We’ll die together p>

She said even louder, “Then! Let’s just die together p>

Jasper’s heart was struck hard. He was speechless.

From his angle, he could see her tense profile.

Because she was straining, she bit her lower lip so hard she broke the skin but didn’t let go. Veins popped on her slender neck. Her back looked so fragile it might snap at any moment, yet

she forcefully dragged him away.

Looking back, the spot where he had been sitting was already submerged by the river water.

If she hadn’t come back…

His originally wavering heart trembled even more violently.

Tatiana’s strength was already at its limit; she was holding on by a sheer thread of willpower.

Her hands hurt terribly. A voice in her head kept saying, Let go…

If you bring him, you’ll die too…

He treated you like this, misunderstood you, hurt you, why are you still saving him?

She had countless reasons not to save him.

But there was only one reason to turn back—

A person like Jasper shouldn’t die here.

At the very least, he shouldn’t die here, implicated because she was picking up a bottle!

Bit by bit, struggling forward, she finally heard voices. She looked up and saw several figures moving through the woods.

The other party spotted them first and shouted, “Found them p>

The strength in her hands gave out, and she fell right down, screaming at the top of her lungs, “We… are here! Help p>

The subordinates rushed over. Seeing this scene, they were stunned and immediately helped lift the nearly unconscious Jasper.

“Quick! To the hospital p>

They scrambled to carry him up, and no one paid any attention to Tatiana, who could no longer stand.

Jasper used his last ounce of strength to grab one of the subordinates and force out a sentence: “Take her p>

The subordinate was stunned, but still turned back to retrieve Tatiana.

It was utter chaos.

Jasper was rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment.

His injuries were severe. He had lost too much blood, had multiple fractures, and one wound had even pierced a kidney. He was taken directly into surgery.

Tatiana’s condition, on the other hand, was relatively better, except for her hands, which were a terrible sight.

When the doctor saw the wounds, he couldn’t help but admire the girl. It must have taken immense willpower to endure such pain. All ten fingers were sprained to varying degrees, and since the fingers are connected to the heart, yet she hadn’t cried out or screamed.

“You must keep your hands dry for at least half a month. Your hands must heal properly, or you will be left with a permanent disability p>

She nodded, though it was unclear if she had actually heard him.

Those once–precious hands were now bandaged up like a mummy’s.
