Chapter 31
She let out a deep sigh. She was lucky just to have survived.
Suddenly, someone walked in.
It was Marilyn, her expression grave.
She looked like she was there to confront her.
Her heart skipped a beat. She shrank back, a little scared, and even shut her eyes instinctively when she saw Marilyn raise her hand, bracing for the pain.
But unexpectedly, that hand landed on her injured hand.
“Tatiana, thank you p>
She froze, opened her eyes, and saw the gratitude in Marilyn’s gaze.
“Thank you for bringing Jasper back. If it weren’t for you, I’m afraid p>
Marilyn’s voice choked for a moment. She suppressed it and continued, “I misunderstood in the past. Our Jackson family owes you a debt of gratitude. What do you want p>
Tatiana opened her mouth, wanting to explain something, but didn’t know how to say it.
you
Marilyn softened her voice. “No rush, take your time. And your hands… don’t worry, I’ll find the best doctor for you. I’ll make sure they heal properly p>
Marilyn had seen with her own eyes how severe the injuries to her hands were. To drag Jasper up, several of her ten fingers had been broken.
The subordinates had said that given the severity of last night’s rain, if they had been any later, the entire area below would have been flooded. Their survival would have been uncertain.
Marilyn felt a wave of lingering fear. However much she had disliked Tatiana in the past, that’s how grateful she was now.
Everything from the past was now water under the bridge.
This was the first time Tatiana had ever seen Marilyn look at her with such a gentle and kind expression. Ever since she had started chasing Jasper, Marilyn had never given her a pleasant look.
She looked down on her.
After she married Jasper, Marilyn wore her dissatisfaction plainly on her face.
But, even so, Marilyn had never actively tried to harm her; she just ignored her completely.
“I’ve arranged for a maid for you. You must keep your hands dry these next few days, and don’t move them around. If you need anything, just have the attendant do it. Also, your body is too weak. I’ve arranged a nutritionist for you too p>
Marilyn fussed over her with a series of instructions.
Several times, Tatiana wanted to tell her that Jasper had fallen because of her.
If Marilyn knew the truth, she would probably skin her alive.
She lowered her gaze and swallowed her words.
Once Jasper woke up and everyone knew the truth, no one would let her off.
She had to leave.
She spoke in a hoarse voice, “Marilyn p>
“Hm? What is it? Tell me p>
“I want… to ask for p>
“Ask for what? ”
She gritted her teeth and forced out a few words: “Some… money p>
Marilyn paused, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. “Just that? You don’t need to look so troubled. Here, this card has five hundred thousand. Is that enough p>
She shook her head, refusing the card offered to her. “I want… cash p>
If she used a card, Jasper would be able to track her movements through her spending records.
Although Marilyn found it strange, she agreed and gathered 200,000 in cash as quickly as possible.
She had intended to give more, but Tatiana refused.
The cash was all packed into a duffel bag. It was a very heavy bag. Latest content published on.net
Marilyn put the bag into a suitcase to make it easier to pull, and couldn’t help but ask, “What do you need so much cash for? It’s too heavy and inconvenient p>
Tatiana’s heart skipped, and she fabricated an excuse: “I like… counting money p>
Marilyn’s expression was complicated.
Had this child not even touched money since she changed her status?
No matter how much she looked down on Tatiana, she had never thought she would end such a sorry state.
Tatiana, on the other hand, had a new glint of light in her eyes.
This money was enough for her to buy medicine for a while. She wanted to live.

Marilyn added, “Jasper is out of surgery, but he’s still in the intensive care unit and hasn’t woken up. Do
you want to go see him? The doctor said he should wake up soon p>
Marilyn thought that since Tatiana loved Jasper so deeply, not abandoning him even in such a dangerous situation and risking her life to save him, she must be eagerly anticipating his waking up, right?
Who would have known that upon hearing this, Tatiana’s face turned even paler.
She was running out of time! She had to leave immediately!
“Marilyn, I want to… go home for a bit. Otherwise, my family… will worry p>
Marilyn frowned, sensing something was wrong. “Why are you stuttering p>
The sentences she spoke before were short, so Marilyn hadn’t noticed. Or perhaps she just hadn’t cared. But now, hearing a longer sentence, the abnormality was too obvious.
This child never used to stutter!
Tatiana lowered her gaze and explained softly, “My throat… isn’t comfortable p>
“You need to rest properly. You’re right, after such a major incident, you should go home and let them know you’re safe. I’ll have the driver take you p>
She obediently agreed.
The driver came over to help carry the suitcase. She got in the car, temporarily leaving the hospital.
Halfway there, she suddenly said, “Stop here p>
“We’re not there yet p>
“I see… my friend. I have something… to discuss with her p>
“But Mrs. Jackson’s instructions were to take you safely home p>
“It’s very close. Don’t worry. I want to… buy some fruit… for my family. My friend will… help me… with the luggage p>
The driver was skeptical, but seeing her insist on getting out, he pulled the car over.
