Chandler tried to step back to take the call, but Jasper was faster. He snatched the phone and barked. “Tatiana! You really aren’t dead p>
Chandler tried to grab the phone. “Jasper! Give that back to me p>
But Tatiana, on the other end, had no time to register her shock that Jasper was also there. The phone was ripped from her grasp, and she heard a loud crash.
Baron had smashed the bowl directly against the wall. Soup and porridge splattered everywhere.
On the other end, Jasper and Chandler heard only the piercing sound of something shattering before the call disconnected.
When they tried calling back, the phone was already off.
Jasper’s expression darkened. “Trace the signal p>
Chandler had no time to argue with him. The loud crash, combined with Tatiana’s panicked voice, was deeply unsettling.
But the most unsettling part was: wasn’t Tatiana supposed to be dead?
Tatiana stared in terror at the man before her, her body recoiling instinctively.
Baron stared at Tatiana with a sinister gaze. “Tati, you’re so disobedient. Even now, you’re still trying to contact Jasper? Do you think he’ll save you? You’re dreaming p>
She tried to explain, but Baron wasn’t listening. He seized her by the wrist and yanked her to her feet. “You’ve been very bad! I’ll have to punish you! But right now, we have to go p>
Before Tatiana could even speak, she felt a sharp pain in her neck as a needle pierced her skin.
An instant later, her strength vanished, and she collapsed.
Baron pulled out a large suitcase, opened it, and cleared a space. He then stuffed the limp Tatiana inside. It was a perfect, tight fit.
This must have been how he’d transported her in the first place.
Baron knew exactly what Jasper was capable of. He didn’t waste a second. He loaded the suitcase into a van and erased every trace of their presence.

By the time Jasper and Chandler arrived, the place was empty.
Jasper’s gaze swept across the dilapidated rental unit, his expression growing darker by the
second.
“Find out who lives here p>
Chandler frowned. “Why would Tatiana be here p>
At the sound of his voice, Jasper’s expression soured even further. Not only was that woman alive, she had made fools of them all. And now, she had called Chandler–not him.
“Who are you? What are you doing in my house p>
Baron stood behind them, looking timid and submissive, a complete departure from his earlier ferocity.
Jasper strode over, grabbed him by the collar, and narrowed his eyes. “This is your place?” he asked, his voice dangerous.
“Yes, it is. Is there a problem p>
“Where is Tatiana? Talk p>
“Tatiana? I don’t know what you’re talking about p>
“Don’t play games p>
Baron shook his head repeatedly, looking terrified. “I really don’t know who you’re talking about! This is my house! If you keep this up, I’m going to call the police p>
The next second, Jasper, his restraint gone, slammed his fist into the man’s face.
Baron cried out and crumpled to the floor, half his face already swelling.
Chandler moved to intervene. “What are you doing p>
Jasper’s expression was glacial, his eyes radiating killing intent. He waved his hand, and his bodyguards immediately moved forward and began tearing the place apart.
The sound of smashing and crashing was deafening.
Baron scrambled up, wanting to stop them but terrified, tears and snot streaming down his face. “Don’t! Stop! Please stop p>
Jasper asked, his expression flat, “Where is she p>

“I really don’t know who you’re talking about p>
Chandler grew impatient. “You don’t know? Then how did call me p>
“I’m being framed! I didn’t call you p>
you
“Impossible. Is this your number?” Chandler pulled out his phone and showed him the call log.
Baron glanced at it and nodded vigorously. “Oh! I was trying to call a friend just now and must have misdialed. It must have gone to you by mistake p>
“Impossible. That wasn’t your voice. Stop lying p>
“Oh, you mean the voice… wait a second p>
Baron scrambled up, went to the balcony, and brought back a birdcage covered with a black cloth. He uncovered it, revealing a bird inside.
“Was this what you heard p>
As he spoke, Baron prodded the bird. The striking myna opened its beak and a woman’s voice came out: “Help… help… save me p>
The voice was identical to Tatiana’s.

They all looked as if they had seen a ghost.
Chandler’s voice was rough. “It… it p>
“This is my pet. His name is Chandler. He loves to talk, he’s a real chatterbox. But he’s stupid; he only knows those two phrases p>
“His name is Chandler? ”
“Yeah, that’s right. Go on, say something p>
The bird hopped around and let out another human–like cry: “Save me, Chandler! Save me!
Save me p>
The articulation was perfect, and it even carried a human–like tone of desperation.
One of the bodyguards couldn’t help but mutter, “That bird’s practically human p>
Chandler stared blankly at the bird, the hope that had just surged inside him draining away. He

muttered to himself, “So… it wasn’t her after all p>
How could he have been so naive as to think Tatiana was still alive?
