Aurora’s POV

“And why are you trying to go over the fence?” a soft voice asked behind me.

I spun around.

It was the blind girl.

My heart lurched. “I—I’m just trying to run away.”

“Run away?” she repeated gently. “But why?”

“It’s a long story,” I muttered, rubbing my arms. “I just… I need to get out of here right now. Do you know any other exits besides this wall?” I glanced up helplessly. “I can’t climb it.”

“I’m sorry,” she said. “Even though I know another exit, I can’t tell you. You’re trying to escape. Helping you would get me in trouble.”

Just then, the Alpha stepped in front of us, blocking our path.

The Alpha’s eyes narrowed on me. Then he turned to Leon. “How did you know? How did you know what they’re looking for?”

Leon shot me a terrified look before turning back to the Alpha. “I was there when they were talking to the Queen.”

“So why are you acting so suspicious, Leon? Is anything wrong? Is there something I need to know?”

“Not at all, Your Majesty,” I said before Leon could slip. “Nothing is wrong.”

The Alpha didn’t look convinced. “Still, both of you are not leaving. And you, Eric—you’re supposed to be with my wife. What are you doing with Leon? I’m starting to think the both of you are getting a little too close for my liking.”

“Too close for your liking?” I muttered under my breath, but he heard it.

The Alpha’s stare hardened. “The both of you are not leaving.”
