Chapter 201
Jacob’s POV Holy shit, that feeling just now… was fucking amazing!Fighting side by side with Celena, she commanded and I executde, that kind of tacit understanding is just like we were born to be a couple. I pounced on the debris, and she delivered a fatal blow, neat and decisive. I could even sense the connection between us. In that brief moment, it was no longer a frozen wasteland, but rather a faint, warm fluttering. My heart was jubilant, and my Wolf was rolling excitedly deep in its consciousness, its tail wagging like a propeller. There’s hope! There is definitely hope! Even if we can’t go back to the past immediately, the ice has cracked a crack! Then, I heard the celestial melody. She looked at me. Her grey eyes, though still not very warm, at least clearly reflected my shadow. She said, “Thank you.” Thank you! She said thank you to me! Not “Get lost,” not “I hate you,” but thank you! A wave of overwhelming, almost dizzying joy washed over me, sweeping away all caution. I felt she had forgiven me, at least begun to forgive me! My voice trembled with excitement as I blurted out, “We don’t need to be like this, Celena. We are… each other’s companions, forever.” I said it, pouring out all my longing and love. Celena’s POV That was close, I almost went to meet Brett. Thankfully, Jacob showed up just in time to save me. By all rights, I should say thank you. And I did. Strangely enough, this time when facing Jacob, the always restless wolf within me didn’t get as excited as before to pounce on him. It was very calm, even a little… tt was too calm. It was completely like an outsider. This was all thanks to Lily and the witches’ previous help. That seemingly absurd afternoon and ceremony seemed to have really calmed down a lot of the disputes in my heart and reduced my troubles. But I was very puzzled. Why did Jacob look so excited? Her eyes were so bright that they were terrifying. She even brought up that word again,”eternal mates.” I was simply grateful he saved me, nothing more. It didn’t mean anything else. Seeing the unmasked, almost overflowing expectation and affection in his eyes, I suddenly felt compelled to clarify, to prevent any further misunderstanding. I took a deep breath, forcing my voice to remain steady and emotionless: “Jacob, thank you for saving me just now. But that doesn’t mean we’re still mates. Just gratitude.” The words left my mouth, and I saw the light in his eyes dim instantly, like a candle snuffed out. Just then, I remembered the reason for the fight earlier, someone had stolen Brett’s body! My mood sank immediately, a wave of anger and helplessness washing over me. Why couldn’t they even leave the dead alone? ʀᴇᴀᴅ ʟᴀᴛᴇsá´› ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀᴛ.net
