Reyna’s POV
A flicker of anticipation runs through me as Cassian guides me toward Peter Hartley and Mikhail. This is the opportunity I’ve been waiting for. Cassian’s presence is a comfort, I know his introduction will open doors that would otherwise remain closed.
Mr. Hartley, this is my business partner, Reyna. She was hoping for a moment of your time to discuss a matter regarding the model, Zoey.
He takes a step back. Peter Hartley turns his attention to me, and I’m struck by his commanding presence. “Who is Zoey?”
“Mr. Hartley, Zoey was the talented model who previously endorsed Opal Group’s jewelry. There was a last–minute scheduling delay that unfortunately led to the cancellation of the shoot, and we believe there may have been some misunderstandings surrounding the incident.”
Mr. Hartley considers this for a moment before turning to his son. “Is that so?”
Jeremy Hartley meets my gaze, his expression thoughtful. “Yes, I remember Zoey. We selected her for her unique aesthetic that aligns with our international campaigns.”

It is Mikhail who responds, “Who do you believe influenced the situation? ”
I choose my words carefully, not wanting to cast direct blame. “I can’t say for certain, Mr. Voloshin. But the circumstances seemed to shift so abruptly that it felt as though there might have been… external perspectives that affected the outcome.”
Mikhail nods slowly, then explains in a clear, Il manner. “I appreciate your position. However, the decision was ultimately the director’s. The concerns were about professionalism,
punctuality and on–set conduct. These are non–negotiable for
us.”
Jeremy echoes this sentiment with a polite firmness. “I must concur with Mr. Voloshin. The Opal Group has certain standards that must be met consistently.”
“Mr. Hartley, Mr. Voloshin, I understand completely. The Opal Group’s reputation for excellence is paramount. Thank you both for your time.”

If only he knew, his blindness is my greatest asset.
Claire’s POV
I can’t believe we even have to be here. The Opal Group’s press conference is stuffy and boring, and everyone is so pretentious. At least mom and Aunt Natalie are here, since Grandpa was too old to come.
It’s so unfair that he gets to skip these things, and I can’t even invite one of my friends.
