Reflecting on the past, Bailee felt everything was absurd. Her eyes, once full of trust, now held only bitterness and self- mockery.
All these years, she had been fooled by Jackson’s hypocrisy and sweet words. She trusted and relied on him so much, yer never noticed his disgust towards her.
Before Bailee could collect herself, she saw Ruby inside the office picking up the cup of latte Bailee had prepared and saying, “Have some coffee and rest. I’ve already ordered food. It’ll be here soon.” Her voice was gentle, but her smile held a hint of mockery.
Jackson took the coffee. As soon as the milky aroma reached him, he frowned, displeased, “A latte? You know I hate this.” His tone was low, as if he didn’t want to upset Ruby.
Hearing this. Bailee felt something piercing her heart. Pain spread through her body.

As he spoke, he pulled Ruby close by the waist, drawing her firmly against him in an intimate gesture.

Jackson smiled faintly, saying nothing.
Ruby tossed Bailee’s coffee, cup and all, right into the trash can, like she couldn’t wait to get rid of something filthy.
Then, she wiped her hands, then handed Jackson her black coffee, blinking coyly. “Sorry. I spilled your wife’s coffee. Here’s the black coffee I made for you. Forgive me?” Her words sounded apologetic, but her smile was smug.
Jackson sipped from her hand, his frown casing. “You know my taste better. But p>
Ruby raised an eyebrow with playful curiosity. “But what p>

With that, he swept the cup off the desk with one hand, then gripped Ruby’s slender waist and lifted her onto the desk, leaning down to kiss her deeply.

The next second, a sharp rip sounded, followed by the wet noise of their passionate kiss.
The scene stabbed Bailee’s heart. Her eyes widened, red with shock and rage. She stumbled back, unsteady. Her fists clenched, nails digging into her palms, yet she felt no pain.
An impulse surged–to rush in, beat them, demand how they dared humiliate her, trample her feelings, and deceive her for
years.
But reason washed over her like cold water. Her fists slowly relaxed. She thought, ‘No, I can’t act on impulse. From their talk, this wasn’t new. Jackson betrayed me. What’s the use of confronting him? Listen to more lies? Or break all ties?
