There were no others. Another bloody setup, this was, I thought, folding my arms across my chest, glaring at Adam. “What is this p>
Only fire burned out of the wood—a tiny flicker that couldn’t even pass for a bonfire—in the middle of a cleared-out area, which was in the middle of a grassland. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was made possible tonight with the use of magic. It was just too perfect a circle.
This wasn’t good. I declared again. The fewer the people, the less chance of me escaping without being seen. What to do? I hissed and turned away from him, when I got no response, toward the path where we had followed to this place, but Naomi’s hands found me then, wrapping themselves around my waist.
“Please stay,” She whispered, not that her words were any secret to those werewolfish ears around us.
For her, I stayed. Not without letting out a curse, though, to make sure they were aware that I hated the bullshit—the audacity of them all to call me into this gathering.
It better be worth it. I mused, following Naomi and sitting down on a spot closer to the grassland. Easier to make an escape.
“So, what are we here for?” I started when they had all settled on the floor, my hands resting on my raised knees.

A chuckle escaped from my lips before I could help it. To hang? “This is a joke, right p>
No answer greeted me.
“You disturb my night, my sleep, to hang?” The incredulity shone brightly in my voice as I placed the emphasis on to hang, my eyes widening as saucers at the implication of their actions.
“You weren’t sleeping, though… and you seemed to be about to head out. Where were you going to?” Daniel spoke up for the first time since they came to pick me up to hang.
The hell!
“That isn’t any of your damn business, Daniel! Just explain to me why you lot thought it was a good idea to disrupt my night p>
Timothy sighed wearily. “I told you all this was a bad idea p>
“Thank you!” I exclaimed in his direction. “Why didn’t you listen to him?” I directed to Adam and his brothers. They gave me no response.
Naomi placed her hand on mine, calming my anger to only burning irritation.
“Well, then, let’s hang,” I said sarcastically, which prompted Raul to lower his head in shame. Oh, he better be ashamed—the gall of him to follow in this nonsense. I was curious to see how they would hang out.
For more than five minutes, I was sure, no one made a sound. With every ticking second, I felt like I was going to blow apart from the inside. When I thought I would finally let the steam out, El chose to intervene.

I sighed out the frustration, looking to the starless skies. “If my presence makes y’all uncomfortable, why did you invite me then p>
“You don’t make me uncomfortable.” Adam said.
Me? I remembered using the plural “y’all.” Oh well, I wasn’t going into that.
“You should act then like you would in my absence. What will you lot be talking about now p>
They all exchanged glances.
“Talk?” Rachel answered softly.
I didn’t know if she was feeling guilty or if her soft voice was because of Adam. Anyway, they weren’t showing signs of talking, and I didn’t have all the time in the world to spend with them. So I got to my feet.
“Dora, please Naomi beseeched, thinking I was going home.
“Since this is awkward, I think we should increase the numbers. Surely, that would be better p>
With that said, without waiting for their input, I started calling more people to the gathering. It was simple, since it was basically El doing the magic.
I had no idea how she was going to do it, but it seemed like she was sending out waves of announcements into the air—only that they were getting into the minds of the young adults in the community. No idea how she went about it, but I could see it happening with the eyes of my heart.
It was like an Alpha sending messages to his subjects, only that I had no link to these people.

They exchanged glances.
“You meant that literally?” Racheal questioned, awe in her voice. “How did you do it p>
I shrugged in response. I didn’t think they would understand the notion of having a separate being within me. Maybe Adam and his friends would, but it would still be strange.
“You know your magic is different,” Claire’s voice echoed with suspicion. “Witches are only able to make little things happen out of the blue. Bigger things require potions, magic sticks, or something as a conduit… unless they are special like the Queen p>
A pause.
“And you are not the Queen… But you just sent out messages to people in the community, without any conduit; just playing with your hands in the air… That’s strange. From what Rachel told me, you are not Queen material either… no one really knows where you’re from… you were just a wounded girl with no memories left. Are you sure you’re not something else—something dangerous to this community p>
