“I’ll do it,” Sharon said at last. “Ten million. Transfer it now, and I’ll take care of Jensen.”

Loretta authorized the transfer immediately, but she wasn’t fool enough to trust Sharon entirely. She left Lucy behind with strict orders. “If this woman dares neglect my son, slap her. Beat her until she obeys.”
Then, with a cold snort, Loretta swept out.
Lucy, now empowered by the madam herself and still seething from Sharon’s shameless bargaining, eyed her with undisguised contempt. “Ms. Summers, from now on we’ll be working side by side. I hope you won’t make my job harder than it needs to be.”
The scorn in Lucy’s gaze burned hotter than fire. Sharon’s stomach twisted with rage, but she could do nothing.
She yanked out her phone and furiously typed a message to her parents.
“You useless pair! Where the hell are you? Your daughter is about to be bullied to death by the Luke family—are you going to step in or not? And what about Natalie? She’s back with the Stone family now. You raised her for eighteen years–are you just going to let that debt go unpaid? Why aren’t you demanding something from them?”
Her fury only mounted as she typed. Her parents had doted on Natalie, raised her to be polished and accomplished, while she herself had grown up in the countryside like some unwanted chick. No finishing schools, no proper training–just humiliation when she was thrust back into high society. And even now, they still looked down on her, still thought Natalie was the better daughter.
If they hadn’t lost her, would she be forced into such desperate schemes now?
She hated them. She hated Natalie. She hated everyone.
But the truth was, the Summers parents had their own nightmare.
The trail of the baby–swap had gone cold long ago. The rural couple tied to the case had died mysteriously, their bodies whisked away by the Stone family before answers could be found. Jordan hurled the phone aside. “We’re changing our numbers. That girl will drag us to the grave if we keep answering her. She tried to poison you, and you still call her our daughter? Forget her. We have money. The family business is stable. We can live well enough. And if it’s loneliness
you fear–better to adopt a child from an orphanage and raise him as a grandson than put another ounce of hope in Sharon.”
His words were harsh, but Quincy’s trembling nod showed she agreed. Natalie was lost to them, Sharon was poison. They still had their fortune. They would cut Sharon off for good.
“Fine,” Quincy whispered. “We’ll change the cards. We’ll disappear.”
And so, as the Summers parents severed ties to save their own skins, Baron stormed into the police station, fury blazing in his eyes.
