The moment Anna mentioned Sharon, Jensen’s chest tightened, a sense of dread creeping in. Something was about to come crashing down.
“You know Sharon? What–she’s the one who told you to kidnap Natalie?”
He remembered Sharon’s jealousy toward Natalic, and the thought seemed to fit.
Anna gave a cold laugh. “That useless woman? She isn’t qualified to order me around.”
“Then what are you saying she did?”
Anna turned her gaze on Natalie, who frowned slightly, wary of what trick this woman was trying to play.
Seeing the reaction, Anna’s lips curled. She looked from Natalie to Baron and suddenly let out a laugh.
“Baron, isn’t it? You don’t look half bad. So why pick up Jensen’s discarded shoes?”
The words were barely out of her mouth before Baron hurled the object in his hand with such speed no one could follow.
It struck Anna square on the jaw. The metallic taste of blood filled her mouth as a tooth flew free.
She spat a mouthful of blood, staggering.
The mercenaries around them stiffened in shock.
“Boss, are you alright?”
One stepped forward to steady her, but she shoved him away violently, her glare murderous as it locked onto Baron.
“You hit me? Do you even know what kind of woman you’re protecting? For Jensen, she was willing to give up her own rib. Do you honestly think you can wedge yourself into something like that? You’re nothing more than a sideshow in their little love story!”
Natalie instantly understood–Anna was trying to sow discord.
If Baron hadn’t already known the truth, maybe it would have worked. But Baron had always
known.

Anna spat the insult, but Natalie’s composure irritated her more. She had exposed the secret, yet Natalie wasn’t panicking. Didn’t she fear Baron would leave her?
Anna sneered and turned back to Jensen. “Do you see now? That’s why I said you’re nothing but a fool wrapped around women’s fingers. The one who gave you that rib five years ago… was Natalie.”

His head snapped up, locking onto Natalie’s calm face.
“Natalie… it was you? Five years ago, you gave me your rib?”
