Flynn shook his head. “No. Susic and Scan slipped out of the house on their own to visit Finn at the hospital. On the way back, while being driven by the Zach family’s driver, they

Waylon’s chest ached with grief.

Seeing Ruby’s distress, both Flynn and Waylon feared she might collapse. They rushed to comfort her.
“Ruby, don’t punish yourself for the deeds of a wicked woman. We still have to find Natalie and the children. You must hold on.”
Ruby looked at her husband and son, their eyes full of worry. She bit her lip and said firmly, “Don’t worry. Back then, I thought Natalie was gone forever, that’s why I fell apart. Flynn hesitated. “But Dad, won’t that put the police in an impossible position? The Stone family, we…”

The woman laughed. “Don’t waste your strength. Every woman who ends up here learns there’s no escaping fate. Besides, the drug in your body hasn’t worn off. You won’t even have the strength to sit up.”
Natalie turned her head toward the voice. A woman around forty, well–kept with only faint crow’s–feet at her eyes, stood watching her. The air around her carried the scent of cheap perfume and smoke, the unmistakable aura of a woman from the streets.
Natalie’s brows knitted. “Who are you? Where am I? What have you done to me?”
Just those three questions left her breathless, gasping for air.
Inside her body, something seemed to crawl and bite, tormenting her beyond endurance. Yet she was powerless to resist.
Her mind flashed back to the injection.
What had they pumped into her?
She fought to move, refusing to surrender even though her strength was gone.
The woman’s smile faded slightly. “Three questions in one breath. Which one should I answer first?”
