Rachel hurried back to the Stone estate, only to see Flynn directing people left and right while Waylon sat clutching his chest, his whole body looking worn and frail.

Waylon’s face clouded as he spoke.
Rachel’s heart gave a small jolt.
Nothing seemed wrong in his words… had she been overthinking things?
“Mr. Stone, I’ve been by Madam’s side for so many years. I know her best. Let me go take care of her. I don’t feel at ease letting someone else look after her.”
Waylon paused, then sighed. “I know how much you care for Ruby. But this time she asked to

Her mind spun with calculations. Finally she lowered her head and muttered with feigned reluctance. “Mr. Stone, of course I want to help. But the young lady and I aren’t close. What if she won’t listen to me?”
“Don’t worry,” Waylon reassured her. “We’ll send one of our most trusted people with you. Natalie will understand once she sees them.”
Rachel’s eyes lit up at that, though she quickly ducked her head again.

So Rachel’s real target wasn’t Natalie at all, but someone else within the family.
The suspicion in his heart grew firmer.
Rachel hurriedly agreed. “Mr. Stone, if you put it that way, then I’ll do it. Madam and I have always gotten along, and your family has been so good to me. It would make me happy to help. When do you want me to leave?”
“As soon as possible,” Waylon said gravely. “We don’t know what condition Natalie’s in. Flynn has already arranged everything. If you’re well enough, go at once. I still haven’t flushed the toxins from my body, and Flynn can’t leave. I’m afraid it falls on you.”
