Rachel’s heart loosened.
Flynn hesitated, then nodded and led her out.
“Mr. Stone was coughing blood just now,” Rachel pressed, trying to pry information from him. “What’s wrong with him? Is Madam ill too?”
Flynn sighed. “It’s not from this incident. My father’s health has been failing for half a year. The coma only triggered an old condition. That’s why he can’t go to sea himself. Juliana, I know it’s a lot to ask, but my sister is the soul of this family. We’re entrusting her to you.”

“I will,” Flynn promised.
They stepped out into the courtyard, where a team was already assembled.
Rachel’s sharp eyes swept over them–and froze on a tall man in a baseball cap, his face hidden behind a mask.

Flynn lowered his voice. “He’s one of our people. Out there, listen to his commands. Call him Boss.”
Boss?
Rachel’s mind sparked with suspicion. Could this be …?
“Understood. Then I’ll be on my way,” she said quickly, nodding to Flynn before following the others out.
From the hall, Waylon stepped back into view. “Did you catch it?”
Flynn nodded grimly. “When I called him Boss, she lit up. For a moment her eyes shone. I think she really is after my brother.”
Waylon’s face hardened. “If Moses is her target, then I’ll have to alert the state. That woman’s no ordinary spy. Imagine–an infiltrator in our family for over twenty years. If we hadn’t uncovered her now, it wouldn’t just threaten us–it could endanger national security. And then the Stone family would be condemned forever.”
Flynn shuddered. He knew well the sacrifices his family had made for generations. The thought of it all being undone chilled him.
“Then you should handle this matter, Dad. I’ll head out to sea.”
“No.”
Waylon’s rejection was immediate.
“Baron is already there. The Zach family has sent men. Even Jensen went. And now, with Rachel leading our people, the Stones are represented too. That leaves Ocean City stripped bare–three families and the strongest syndicate all away at once. If anyone intends to
