Baron knew it was dangerous to have Natalie jump into the sea and wait for extraction; but at that moment, it was the only way to get her out quietly, without alerting anyone.
Natalie, however, clutched his wrist tightly.
“Baron, I’m leaving with you. There are too many powerful people here–you can’t go up against them all!”
There was no way she couldn’t see the fury in his eyes. This man had always treated her with care and tenderness; now that she’d been dragged here by strangers, there was no way Baron would just let it go.
But she didn’t want him to get hurt.
Seeing the worry and fear in her eyes, Baron said softly, “I know what I’m doing.”
“Please, just listen to me, okay? Let’s leave together.”
Her fingers trembled as she held onto his arm. “Whoever has the power to pull something like this off isn’t some ordinary person; I don’t want anything to happen to you, do you understand? I don’t care what happens to anyone else. You’re my husband–you’re the father of my children. I just want the four of us to live safely together.”
Baron’s chest burned hot.

He grabbed the back of her head and kissed her–hard. The kiss came without warning, fierce and possessive.
Beth hadn’t expected it at all; she froze, then quickly turned her face away. Good Lord … this is too much. Am I even supposed to be watching this? But I can’t exactly leave either! She covered her face but peeked through her fingers anyway. What kind of god – tier husband is this – so handsome, so passionate, risking his life to rescue her? Figures … the best men are always taken.
Natalie hadn’t expected the kiss either. It was wild, burning hot–so intense she felt like he might consume her right there.
She pushed at him a few times, embarrassed, but instead of letting go, Baron only held her tighter.

Her strength gave out, her body soft as water; she clung to his collar as if she’d drown without him.
When Baron realized she was nearly out of breath, he finally let her go.
Looking at her flushed face and the way she gasped for air, his gaze darkened; desire rolled through him like a storm. God, he wanted her right now.
He straightened her collar and murmured, “If you insist on leaving with me, then I’ll take you up to the ladder myself.”
He had thought it through–going underwater again was too risky. Sneaking in from the sea had been just to locate her. Now that he’d found her, and with enough men on his side, he might be able to take her out by force if necessary.
Hearing him say that, Natalie nodded quickly. Beth, standing off to the side, grew anxious.
“Ms. Stone, you promised me–you said you’d help me find my son!”
At first, Beth had thought pinning all her hopes on Natalie was foolish, that it might not lead anywhere; but after seeing Baron appear here silently while the people outside remained unaware, she knew she’d chosen right.
Baron, however, frowned at her words; his sharp eyes flashed with sudden menace.
“You looking to die?”
Things were already critical. Getting Natalie out safely was dangerous enough; but she was his wife–of course he was willing to risk it. And this woman? Who did she think she was, trying to take advantage of the situation?
Beth went pale, stumbling back several steps, shaking uncontrollably.
The murderous aura rolling off Baron wasn’t an act–it was real, suffocating.

“Probably not. Sharon was taken as cargo too; but the man guarding her–Sam–he had bad intentions. Sharon and Sam both fell overboard… they’re probably dead.”
As she said it, Natalie shivered.
Sam’s death haunted her like a nightmare she couldn’t wake from.
She knew it hadn’t been her fault–that she’d only fought back to protect herself–but knowing that didn’t stop the images from replaying in her mind over and over again, Sam’s face in those final moments, the horror of it all.
