Chapter 472 Logan’s Got Some Nerve
As they spoke, Baron had already dug up the middle–aged man’s information.
“Dad, honey–it is Logan!”
He handed Waylon and Natalie the details he’d found.

“This Logan is from a side branch of the Stone family. Technically, he’s Alden’s biological uncle–the same Alden Dad once planned to have adopted by Uncle. But when Logan was about eighteen or nineteen, he fell out with his family over a woman and disappeared. For years, no one heard from him–not even when Alden’s grandparents passed away. Everyone in the Stone family assumed he’d died abroad, so they stopped looking.”
Baron swiped through his phone a few times before speaking again, his voice low and steady. “Turns out, Logan’s story is one for the books. The woman he got tangled up with back then was from the red–light district–but she wasn’t just anyone. She had serious connections. After he got involved with her, he was trafficked overseas like some kind of commodity. Everyone figured he was as good as dead. But somehow, he saved a mafia boss’s life and ended up climbing the ranks in the underworld instead. Then, after Alden’s biological parents and relatives were killed in that fire, Logan caught wind that Alden had inherited Uncle’s bloodline and become the new head of the Stone estate. That’s when he came back, used Alden’s youth and inexperience, and took over–both the boy and the family residence.”
Baron’s expression darkened as he continued, “All these years, Alden’s probably been under his thumb. I’m still not sure how–there’s more I need to uncover. But one thing’s clear, Logan’s been bleeding Dad dry through Alden, using him as a front. Even the mansion’s reconstruction? That wasn’t funded by them. It was paid for by you.”
Baron’s words made Waylon’s face darken instantly.
Natalie tugged lightly at his sleeve, her eyes flashing with frustration. Is he out of his mind? Who talks to their father–in–law like that?
But Baron just shook his head at her, a faint smirk tugging at his lips.
“Hurts a bit, doesn’t it, Dad?”
Waylon shot him a glare. “You done yet?”
“I’m done.”

“You think it’s that easy?” Waylon snapped. “You don’t think I want to clean house? But I don’t even know his full background, or what Alden’s been forced to do under his control. And what about Yvonne? Her identity shouldn’t be exposed so soon–we haven’t even made it public. So why would Logan capture her?”
Waylon’s question echoed Natalie’s own confusion.
Baron didn’t have an answer either.
“Then we watch and wait. Yvonne’s capable enough to protect herself; if she’s trapped, something must be holding her back. Still, with her skills and experience, she shouldn’t be in real danger. Since we’re already here, we might as well end this once and for all.”
Waylon nodded in agreement. That was exactly what he had in mind.
Natalie didn’t object–she was only here to observe anyway.
Outside, more and more people were arriving.
On the surveillance screen, the three of them watched as the courtyard filled with heirs and heiresses from every major family in Ocean City. Their faces grew tense.
Looks like this Logan’s got some pull after all.
About half an hour later, one of Waylon’s men in black called from the foot of the mountain.
“Mr. Waylon, everyone’s here. No more cars are coming in.”
“Good. Lock the gates. No one leaves unless I say so. I want to see exactly what Logan’s planning with all these spoiled brats.”
As soon as Waylon gave the order, the sound of drums and gongs erupted outside.
Natalie frowned slightly. What now? What’s with the fanfare?
On the surveillance feed, a lion dance troupe had begun performing in the courtyard; fireworks and music followed soon after.
Then came the rowdy voices of Jacob and the other heirs, echoing up through the windows.

The floor seemed to have been remodeled into a massive terrace; everyone up there was cheering wildly, the atmosphere feverish and electric.
A chill crept over Natalie.
“Baron, this is…”
His expression darkened, a sharp glint flashing in his eyes.
“Let’s hope it’s not what I think it is. If it is–Logan’s as good as dead.”
Natalie didn’t quite understand what he meant, but Waylon did. His brows knitted tightly, worry clouding his face.
The lion dance ended soon after.
