At those murmurs Vanessa’s face changed in an instant, she squeezed my hand and put on a worried expression.
“Skyler, I was just so scared – I didn’t think straight. I’m sorry, don’t be mad p>
I rolled my eyes. That flip was Oscar worthy.
Before I could answer, Bryce staggered out.
He was blackened by smoke, a huge raw burn across his face bleeding steadily – he looked awful, like he might be disfigured.
I clenched my fist.
That scratch is nothing – not even close to the way I burned to death last time.
